Employer wellbeing support is the strongest predictor of employee turnover risk, and Thrive’s coaching measurably strengthens it.

Wellbeing has long been treated as a perk: something nice to offer once the real work of building a business is done. New research from Thrive Global makes clear that this gets it exactly backwards.
Employees who strongly agree that their company values and supports their personal wellbeing report 53% lower turnover intent than those who are neutral on the question. Across dozens of workplace factors, including job security, career growth, and a sense of community at work, nothing predicts whether people plan to stay more strongly than whether they feel their employer genuinely cares about their wellbeing.
The lesson for leaders is simple and urgent. Wellbeing isn't layered on top of the employee experience. It is the employee experience.
Thrive’s Research
Thrive surveyed more than 900 full-time employees across 13 countries, separately and independently from the Thrive platform. The survey asked more than 150 questions spanning wellbeing, company culture, satisfaction, productivity, and health outcomes, and compared every workplace factor captured against the research-validated Turnover Intention Scale (TIS-6).
One statement rose above all the others: "My company values and supports my personal wellbeing." Many of the factors usually seen as the keys to retention were also highly predictive of turnover intent. But each carried less weight than employer wellbeing support, including responses to:
How Thrive Coaching Drives Better Retention
Knowing what matters is only half the work. The other half is making sure people can actually feel it. Support can't be a benefit buried in a portal. It has to show up in the daily interactions and norms that say, "Your wellbeing matters here."
That is exactly what Thrive's wellbeing-focused behavioral coaching does, 1:1 and in groups, in more than 30 countries. Thrive coaches help people build new habits, strategies, and perspectives tailored to their needs and their workplace. And coaching moves the very measure the research identified as most important for retention: after working with a Thrive coach, employees reported a 9% increase in how supported they feel by their company.
When people feel cared for, they stay. And when they stay, they bring their full selves to the work that matters most.
