As a global leader in the biopharmaceutical industry, Pfizer is in relentless pursuit of scientific breakthroughs and revolutionary medicines and vaccines that extend and significantly improve people’s lives.
Pfizer understands that to deliver on their purpose: Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives, colleagues need to function at their best and be committed to their own health and wellness. That’s why, each year, Pfizer makes new investments to help colleagues manage their mental and physical well-being. In 2021, Pfizer partnered with Thrive Global to encourage and enable colleagues to take ownership of their mental health and wellness.
Having established Microsoft Teams as their core platform for driving collaboration and communication across their colleague base, Pfizer chose the Thrive Global for Teams application to further support their workforce. By implementing Thrive Global, colleagues gained access to real-time, stress-reducing tools, inspirational storytelling, and science-backed Microsteps, helping them build new healthy habits, right within Microsoft Teams. With the help of these tools, Pfizer saw improvements in colleague well-being within the first year of deployment, including an 18% increase in productivity, a 15% increase in resilience, and a 16% higher colleague satisfaction rate.1
Pfizer’s partnership with Thrive has been a great support in our ongoing efforts to provide the tools and resources to help all our colleagues take care of their physical and mental health. The more knowledge and tools we have, the better able we are to achieve our purpose: Breakthroughs that change patients’ lives.

Pfizer uses Microsoft Teams as a core technology to help make their colleagues’ lives easier. Colleagues can collaborate quickly and easily via chat, audio, or video conferencing, and can access key data and information all within Teams. As Pfizer continued to explore ways to help further boost and support colleague well-being following the adoption of Thrive, the Thrive Global application for Microsoft Teams presented itself as a natural next step. Thrive Global for Teams embeds well-being directly into colleagues’ daily workflow to meet them where they are − reducing the friction of having to go to a different app or site to access well-being tools.
The Thrive Global for Teams experience begins each day with the Daily Check-In. This functionality prompts colleagues to answer a daily question related to specific dimensions of mental health and well-being (e.g., energy, efficacy, belonging, etc.). The question is delivered through the Thrive Global for Teams chat window, providing colleagues an easy and anonymous way to enter their response. This mechanism is incredibly effective at driving engagement as users participating in Daily Check-Ins are three times more likely to return to the platform each week.2 Colleagues’ answers to the Daily Check-In prompt personalized content recommendations, including science-backed Microsteps, modules from Thrive‘s course library, 60-second Thrive Reset videos to help them destress in real time, and Thrive Challenges to help them make progress on their well-being journey.
Today, more than 70% of our engagement with the Thrive platform happens on Teams1 – where our colleagues get real-time stress-reducing tools, inspirational storytelling, and science-backed Microsteps to build new healthy habits.

Thrive Global for Teams remains one of the most popular well-being tools available to Pfizer’s global workforce, having attracted more than tens of thousands of unique sign-ups, and as of May 2023, recorded more than 800,000 Daily Check-In responses.1 Within the first year of deployment, Pfizer saw increases in colleague productivity, resilience, and satisfaction with the help of Thrive Global for Teams. Today, more than 70% of Pfizer’s engagement with the Thrive platform happens on Teams,1 proving the value of delivering real-time, stress-reducing tools in the same environment where colleagues conduct their work.
At Pfizer, our goal is to change a billion lives a year. It’s an ambitious goal, with global impact. And we’re getting there with Microsoft Teams and the help of employee wellness tools like Thrive for Teams.
