Want to take your career to new heights? When competing for mid-tier and managerial positions, the right certifications can boost your chances to be recruited.

But where do you start? Let’s see 5 of the best certifications to get if you want to impress recruiters. So, read on and get ready to supercharge your career!

1. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Sponsored by the Project Management Institute, a PMP certification is perhaps the most respected project management credential in IT. A PMP manager has a five-fold expertise across Initiate, Plan, Execute, Monitor and Control, and Close.

In order to qualify for PMP certification, you need at least 35 hours of project management training and a minimum of 4,500 hours of project management experience for people with a Bachelor’s degree.

2. SAFe® Certification

Lean-Agile methodologies are a must in today’s ultra-competitive digital markets. Recruiters consider Lean-Agile certifications for numerous organizational positions.

A Certified SAFe Agilist is expert in facilitating a robust Lean-Agile culture within a company. SAFe Agilists focus on coordinating other Lean experts and acts as an intermediary across different departments. Check out this article on how to become a SAFe Agilist.

3. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

CISSP certification is essential for individuals who specialize in system analysis, system engineering, and auditing. As a certified information systems security professional, you will have access to numerous managerial positions with broad corporate responsibilities.

In order to qualify for a CISSP certification, you will need at least 5 years of experience in a relevant position. Keep in mind that CISSP requires continuing education credits to remain active.

4. Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

As the name implies Certified Information Security Managers, specialize on IT security. Such a certification opens up numerous opportunities for mid-tier tech-related positions from the get-go.

As CISM, you design and implement company-wide security protocols and manage the intersection between IT and C-suite executive decisions. Keep in mind that CISM certification requires you to take a challenging test with 200 questions.

It may seem that there is some overlap across CISM and CISSP, but in fact, those two certificates complement each other. A manager with both certificates will have access to a much broader range of positions.

5. Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)

A CGEIT certification means exercise in managing and consulting on enterprise information technology governance. With this certification, you can apply for managerial IT positions, such as Risk Manager Officer, and IT Controller.

There is an enormous demand for CGEIT-certified individuals in most tech verticals today. The exam has some challenging prerequisites and is somewhat more expensive than other certifications, requiring applicants to pay a fee of $575 USD.
