The Director of Strategic Partnerships & Principal CSM shares how this one Microstep improves her focus, her mood, and her overall well-being.
One of my favorite Microsteps is pausing what I’m doing to take a short walk. I have found that taking short walks throughout the day, especially when busy, helps me be more productive in the end. After a long call, or right before an important meeting, I love to go for a quick walk around the block to clear my head. And as part of my morning ritual, I always walk at least a mile to move my body and set the tone for the day. Movement can be so challenging, but by going on a walk or attending an early morning workout class, I find that I can feel less stressed throughout the day and more prepared to handle difficult things.
Another well-being practice that brings me joy is cooking. I know it is a good week when I can start by grocery shopping for creative meals. I am not the best chef in the world, but it is almost therapeutic to chop vegetables and sit down to dinner (without phones or any screens!) I love experimenting with different dishes, and I recently started adding seasoning to my food, which has been a game-changer. It sounds silly, but it brought me so much joy to add some flavor to my cooking and helped me be more creative with my daily meals. I am not someone who likes to meal prep, so being able to make up, or follow fun recipes with the ingredients I have available has been a challenge and huge reward. It helps make our family dinners more fun since we can change up what we’re eating with little tweaks. There are so many Thrive recipes I love. My favorite is the Raspberry Chocolate Chip Popsicles. They’re great for when you have a sweet tooth!
