Social media has become the top leading platform for individuals to grow on and become celebrities. The majority of these people are young and achieve popularity through the way their life is depicted on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram. Alec Hermes, an American born Gen Z serial entrepreneur is one of the up and coming stars to have come out of the social networks.

Alec Hermes became popular, thanks to his brand, The Visors. The product was worn by influencers all over social media and had a major outbreak. It went viral over the summer of 2018 and since then he has taught people how to create a trend online and has guided young individuals through his mentorship program. With over 130 students enrolled, Alec is showing both teenagers and college students how to make money online.

While talking with Alec, we discussed everything you need to know about who he is and other details about himself.

What motivated you to get started with your business?

“I have always had a passion to meet and connect with new individuals. People who have talents and skills that I lacked are the people that I wanted to grow close to. I knew that if I started my own business then I would be able to connect with these major names. If I wanted to speak to successful people, I would have to do something not so ordinary. I decided to start my first E-commerce business from there, and after a few months, I was able to create my own brand.”

How important is mindset when starting your own business?

“Mindset is one of the most important things that helped me in creating my first dropshipping business. Being confident and passionate about my new venture helped me incredibly. My confidence allowed me to intrigue others who would, later on, help me when I need them.”

What’s your advice for those trying to start their own business?

“Those who are attempting to start their own business is to focus on an important problem that you are passionate about and work on finding a solution to solve it. Throughout the past two years of being involved with business, I have seen people who have more determination to make money than being focused on creating a proper company. Often times when someone creates a company strictly for money, their company falls short and becomes barely profitable.”

What projects are you working on now?

“Currently, my main business is HermesStrategies, which is a social media marketing and branding team that was created to help a variety of businesses who are looking to grow. Along with this, I am opening a new brand known as 5am Collection that will release January 1st, 2020. It is a clothing brand that will have a large community behind it. The goal of the brand is to have like-minded individuals be able to talk together and share their ideas. It’s meant to motivate others to be ahead of the game, and wake up earlier to accomplish more during the day.”

What would you say are the biggest challenges when starting a business?

“One of the biggest challenges when starting a business is money management. When someone starts a new venture, the majority of the time they are on a budget, including myself during the early stages. Having a tight budget makes you think long and hard about the decisions you have to make. Sometimes, you have to take a risk and trust your gut with the way you spend money. It is impossible to know what the future has in store, which means both money and time can be wasted.”

Despite Alec’s young age, he plans to reinvest the money he earned from past ventures into a much larger project soon. He has already started planning his next big idea – although he is keeping it a secret for now.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
