What is Executive Presence & How Can You Get Some? This is 5Mins & 5Qs with the humble Harrison Monarth

Harrison’s latest book, Executive Presence-The Art of Commanding Respect Like a CEO is indeed a topic that comes up a lot in my practice and his book gives great insight. Indeed, executive presence is about knowing yourself well enough to clearly see the impact and influence you have on others. Harrison takes us step by step through the process of building our personal brand as the kind of leader everyone trusts to do the right thing at the right time.

What are you reading at the moment?

RANGE Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World.

What’s keeping you awake at night?

Our impact on the environment and callous disregard of the consequences.

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

Animals. I have a 17 1/2 year old Dachshund and a 21 year-old cat. The love and happiness they provide to my life is something I wouldn’t want to live without.

What is the hardest thing you overcame?

A lack of confidence in myself when I was younger. Fortunately I was resilient and developed confidence in a variety of areas that helped me succeed. Confidence builds confidence. A willingness to take risks is essential.

How did you get out of your own way ? Instead of focusing on my perceived inadequacies I focused on providing value to others. That freed me up to do some things that were impactful and helped me find my way. Harrison Monarth is a New York Times Bestselling Author and a Leadership & Executive Presence Coach.
