Have your life struggles led you to the point of feeling hopeless and ready to give up? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. While you may know deep down that success isn’t too far away from where you are at, you still might be unsure of what exactly it is that you need to do to get out of your current situation.

In my own life, I’ve used two simple visualization techniques that have allowed me to see the dramatic transformation at incredible speeds. Success obviously required execution but being able to clearly visualize what you want is an effective way to know exactly where you are going and what you need to do to get there. If you expect to master your dreams and goals, you must become a master of visualization. Visualization is a powerful skill. I’m going to share with you two incredible strategies that you can begin doing right now.

The reason visualizing works so well is because our brains don’t know the difference between the actual goal and the created goal. High performers use visualization all the time. What high performers are really good at is directing their stress towards visualization and the activities they want to create. For example, when a tennis player is getting ready to hit the ball, he or she isn’t saying “I’m going to lose this shot.” No, they’re visualizing the outcome. Starts to feel the stress, sitting there visualizing the next shot, where to place the ball against their opponent and boom. Hits the ball in the direction he created in his mind through visualization.

A Visualizing is really quite easy. A simple way to begin visualizing is by sitting in a comfortable position and closing your eyes. Imagine every detail as vividly as you can — what you are doing and feeling if your dreams were already realized. Imagine looking at yourself in the ideal situation experiencing your dream results.

Goal Pictures

I would recommend beginning with the visualization technique – goal pictures. This powerful visualization technique is to create a picture or photograph of yourself experiencing the goal. It is extremely powerful if you are in the photograph and acting as if the goal is already completed. If one of your goals is to own your dream home, grab your iPhone and have your picture taken in front of your dream house. If your goal is to visit Hawaii, find a photo of a beautiful Hawaiian beach and cut out a picture of yourself and adhere it into the picture. I would encourage my clients to create a goal picture for every area of their life—career, family, financial, health and relationships. Place your goal pictures in an area of your home or office where you can see them daily.

Five Minutes Every Day

Another simple visualization technique is to practice a discipline called Five Minutes Every Day. Start by using your goal pictures or goals written down on 3×5 index cards. Keep these items near your bed for easy access in the morning. Each morning and/or evening go through your index cards or goal pictures, close your eyes, visualize the completion of your goal in its desired state for 30 seconds, open your eyes and repeat the process for each goal. If you have one goal picture, challenge yourself to close your eyes and visualize your desired outcome for 5 minutes.

Here are several examples of goals to visualize on a variety of topics:
*I am confidently checking the balance of my bank account to see my 1,000,000.
*I am effectively delivering a speech to an audience of over 1,000 people who affirm my message with a standing ovation.
*I am walking up on stage to receive my fitness award and receiving a roar of applause.
* I am joyfully celebrating the purchase of my dream home.

The key to your success is making visualization a daily habit. Seeing the goal or dream in its already completed state in your mind’s eye—is training your brain to have a different filter. Visualization is a core technique used by some of the world’s most successful people. I hope you gained value from reading this article, let me know how these steps work for you.
