Research has suggested that the consumption of fruits and vegetables decreases the oxidation of cells and modifies the levels of fat in the body reducing the risk of diseases caused by free radicals and high blood cholesterol.

The use of antioxidants from plant sources such as phenolic acids, flavonoids and tocopherols, has become very important in the food industry, due to its anticancer, antidiabetic effect among other benefits for human health.

The mangosteen also called Garcinia mangosteen, comes from Asia and has been the subject of study as shown by the PudMed base between 2007 and 2012, for its considerable percentages of antioxidants called xanthones, high levels of vitamin B1, B2 and B6 and vitamin C, being of great help as a natural complement to the treatments and prevention of diseases that involve cell death.

In its skin is the largest amount of xanthones which, together with phenols, have an astringent action and protect the fruit against insects, fungi, bacteria and viruses. Studies have shown that the components of mangosteen can fulfill important functions in human physiology, including antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiallergic and antioxidant levels.

Some medical uses of mangosteen

Diabetes The effect of mangosteen on sugar levels is evident after 1 or 2 months of therapy. Some diabetics need to start with a dose of 15 ml  (one tablespoon)  of pulp per day, to gradually increase in weeks until reaching a two-ounce regimen three times with meals, if fasting glucose levels rise more than 20 points at the beginning of using the mangosteen.

Antitumor and cancer prevention Although the diet recommended by the American Cancer Society is a good start, you cannot get all the antioxidant protection our bodies require only from food. It is simply impossible. Supplements have become a necessity to protect against cancer in a polluted world.

The recommendation is to eat up to 8 ounces of the pulp at each meal along with a gallon of water for patients who do not have kidney or heart damage.

Deficiency in the immune system Headaches, myalgia, fever and general malaise with or without symptoms of the upper respiratory tract or with gastrointestinal discomfort, constitute primary care. Season Allergies Both children and adults can take two ounces a day with meals.

Fibromyalgia Mangosteen juice on an initial two-ounce regimen a day with meals has been effective in the therapy of arthritic pain alone and when combined with other remedies.

Migraine. The one-ounce prophylactic regimen, three times a day with food, has proven successful. Up to two ounces per day is recommended,

Lose weight. The mangosteen has a high percentage of fiber (about 5 gr / 100 gr). This prevents fats and sugars from food from being absorbed and deposited in adipose tissue. In addition, it is a source of potassium, a mineral that helps reduce fluid retention and detoxify the body.
