What is Stress?

Stress is the body’s way of reaction during a threat or a demand and may cause discomfort to ones life.Most of the time stress can be a result from:

  • Loss of a job
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Work stress
  • Traumatic events in ones life
  • Marriage and divorce.
  • Increase in ones financial obligations.

Stress can drain both one physically and mentally. There are several physical symptoms of stress that include:

  • Difficulties during sleeping
  • Weight loss or weight gain
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Excessive sleeping
  • Chest pains
  • Stomach pains that include diarrhea.

One of the best Management Consultant and Conference speaker Dr.Karl Archebt ,defined the four main stress types that are:

  • Encounter Stress

This kind of stress happens when you interact with other people. When you interact with other people,you tend to worry about their response.Its seen especially when your life revolves around customers,groups and clients. Those who are prone to high risk of encounter stress are physicians and social workers.
Encounter Stress goes round people, the best way to solve this is by improving your interaction skills with people. Other ways to solve this includes learning about Emotional Intelligence and Empathy.

  • Time Stress

Time stress revolves around one worrying about time and lack of time. Many people worry about things they have not done and they are running out time.
The best remedy to kill time stress is by learning time management skills. Other remedies include, devoting more time to more important things.

  • Situational Stress

This happens when you are in scary situation and you have no control over it such as a conflict, status loss.Situational Stress appears without no ones consent and thus to avoid it, learn to be more self awareness. Conflicts can also cause situational stress, to avoid this learn more of conflict resolution skills.

  • Anticipatory Stress

This kind of stress revolves around ones future such as been anxious about a certain event or presentation.
This kind of stress can be solved by lowering your expectations of the future. You should not expect everything to happen as you imagined. Learning how to overcome failure can be of good help.
