One year ago today I decided to stop drinking alcohol.  I was a white wine drinker and it had become almost a daily habit.  If I met someone for a meal I had a glass.  If I got home late after an event I had a glass.  If I went away for the weekend I had a few glasses.  So many hidden, liquid calories.

So I just decided to stop.  Cold turkey.  For the first six months it didn’t make much difference.  Then last January I decided to try Tim Ferriss’ slow carb lifestyle.  And I lost 23 pounds.

I still eat all the things I love, but I do it a bit differently.  And if I’m out socially, I drink sparkling water.  I feel lighter in my body, head and heart.

I realized that habits are things we do unconsciously.  We may not even remember why.  It’s just what we do.

So if we make small positive changes and build them into our daily lives, before we know it they turn into big changes.  They become strong habits.

It could be adding meditation, reading, walking, socializing, journal writing, food preparation, travel or networking to our journey.  It could be just changing what we have for breakfast or the snack we always keep in our bag.

It’s the little things that make all the difference.

As author and life coach Tony Robbins said, “Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.”

You can change your life in an instant.

Why not make a decision today about something that can change everything?
