SO WHAT HAVE I LEARNED ABOUT GETTING WELL AND STAYING WELL OVER MY LONG LIFETIEME OF 85 YEARS?

WELL, AFTER A MID-LIFE CRISIS IN MY 30’S, I RESOLVED TO FOCUS ON THAT SO SIGNIFICANT EIGHT LETTER WORD THAT BEGINS AND ENDS WITH AN E…EXERCISE…EXERCISE FOR BODY, MIND AND ESP. SPIRIT.

FOR MY BODY, I BEGAN A WEEKLY REGIMEN OF AEROBIC EXERCISE. I RAN 3 TIMES A WEEK FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AT A TIME, THEN MY KNEES TOLD ME I COULDN’T DO THAT ANYMORE SO…I JOGGED FOR THE SAME TIME AND DISTANCE UNTIL MY KNEES TOLD ME TO STOP JOGGING, SO NOW I WALK. I ALSO DO SOME MODERATE WEIGHT WORK, NOT REAL STRENUOUS, JUST ENOUGH TO STRENGTHEN MY BONES AND MUSCLES TWO TIMES A WEEK. AND THE OTHER TWO DAYS I RELAX.

FOR MY MIND, I LOVE TO READ ALL KINDS OF STUFF, FROM THE DAILY NEWSPAPER TO MYSTERY NOVELS TO HISTORICAL FICTION AND THE LIKE. I ALSO WORK CROSSWORD PUZZLES AND PLAY GIN RUMMY AND OTHER PUZZLES ON MY PAD. AND SOMEHOW MANAGE TO WRITE THE CHECKS TO PAY THE BILLS, WITHOUT MY PATIENT WIFE NOT HAVING TO CORRECT MY FIGURES TOO OFTEN.

FOR MY SPIRIT, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF ME THAT HOLDS BODY AND MIND TOGETHER, I PRAY DAILY AND GO TO CHURCH PRETTY REGULARLY AND READ BOOKS, LIKE THE BIBLE AND OTHER DEVOTIONAL MATERIAL, TO FEED, EXERCISE, MY SPIRIT. I ALSO ENJOY FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND LIVE AND LOVE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME, WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF LAUGHTER.

SOME YEARS AGO I WROTE A BOOK ENTITLED “DO YOU WANT TO BE WELL”, WHICH AMPLIFIED MY EXERCISE REGIMEN DESCRIBED ABOVE.
