Did You Love the Best You Could?

A Poem

The Thrive Global Community welcomes voices from many spheres on our open platform. We publish pieces as written by outside contributors with a wide range of opinions, which don’t necessarily reflect our own. Community stories are not commissioned by our editorial team and must meet our guidelines prior to being published.

Did you love the best you could,
fiercely, freely, and unabashed?

Did you give people freedom
to be themselves, to feel respected?

Did you think of others
before yourself?

Did you go the extra mile
and give more than you took?

Were you willing to observe
instead of judge?

Were you slow to take offense
but fast to forgive?

Did you love yourself
with compassion and forgiveness?

If your answers are yes,
you’ve fought the good fight.

Keep living,
keep loving.
