No matter what job you have, it will get stressful from time to time. Whether you work long hours on your feet at a restaurant or sell insurance, there will be times that you’re nervous or anxious about work.

Especially in the past year, work-life balance has been put on the backburner. It seems like it would be less stressful to work from home, but when you add the adjustments you have to make, it’s not as easy as it sounds.

If you’re one of the many who suffer from work-related anxiety, there are some natural ways that you can keep a cap on that.

Setting Boundaries

The first way to reduce your anxiety around work is to set boundaries for yourself.

When you’re working hard, it can be easy to forget to take a lunch break. Or, if you’re busy, you may be tempted to skip it altogether. Set a boundary with yourself and your employer to take at least 30 minutes for lunch every day.

Have hours that you’re unavailable for work-related calls or emails. Unplug.

Take Breaks

Aside from taking a lunch, permit yourself to take small breaks throughout the day. Even if this means you have to take a bathroom break, give yourself a moment to stretch your body a little bit.

If you feel overwhelmed, ask someone to cover for you and take yourself away from the situation for a few minutes. Take a deep breath. You can’t be productive at work if you’re so overwhelmed that you can’t see straight.

While you’re steeping away from work for a moment, drink some cold water. This can calm down your peripheral nervous system and slow down your heart rate.

Blow Off Steam

You may find yourself needing a way to decompress.

There are a few different ways you can do this. Working out is a popular option for many, but some of us are just not into that. If that’s the case with you, try taking a walk or stretching.

Even ranting to a friend or family member can be an excellent way to release from work.

Try a Natural Supplement

An easy, passive way to reduce your work-related anxiety is to add a natural supplement to your daily routine. Ingredients like L-Theanine and GABA (Gamma amino butyric acid) can provide natural anxiety relief for you throughout the day.

Take something like a mood-boosting supplement first thing in the morning to get ahead of your anxiety. The good thing about having all-natural ingredients is that you can take them when you need them so that you can take a booster right before a stressful event.

Get Enough Sleep

We’ve all heard about how important sleep is to your overall health. But when you have so much work to do, it can fall to the bottom of your list.

Getting enough sleep the night before can be the best prevention for over-stressing yourself the next day. When you don’t get enough sleep, your moods can be impossible to regulate. This increases anxiety levels significantly.

Take Care of You

The most important thing you can remember when you’re having a stressful day at work is that you have to take care of yourself.

Get the rest you need and take breaks when you can. Always be sure to protect yourself and your energy no matter what’s going on at work.
