5 Things to Do Instead of Netflix

After several of Netflix binging weekends in a row, I’ve decided to create a list of 5 things to do instead of Netflix to turn to when Saturday morning rolls around.

Have you ever looked at the clock on a Saturday and realized that you just spent the entire day binging a series on Netflix? Ahem, The Office for the bajillionth time. I am totally guilty of this. While wasting a day on chilling in bed watching Netflix is nice every now and then, I find myself feeling guilty or wishing I was actually doing something productive or something that feeds my soul, or even just something new.

GO ON A HIKE

While I would not consider myself a super outdoorsy-camping-in-a-tent person, I do love getting out in nature and soaking it all in (before getting to go back inside with the AC and bathrooms of course!) Not only is it keeping my creativity inspired by being in nature but hiking is a great way to embrace an active lifestyle.

GO GRAB COFFEE WITH A FRIEND

I’ll be the first to say that adult friendships can be really hard especially if you’re not carving out time for them. Instead of wasting time in front of your TV, go make your own Gilmore Girls’ style memories by walking to a coffee shop with a friend.

TRY A PINTEREST DIY PROJECT

Get a group of friends together and each chooses a DIY project you want to try together. A few months ago I had a couple of my girlfriends over and for a DIY natural products girls night. We each scrolled through Pinterest and chose a natural product to create together. While most of them turned out to be closer to #PinterestFails, it was fun to just get together and try something new together and laugh at the fact that we added too much of one ingredient or not enough of another. Plus having my house smell like a soap shop was a bonus!

BREAK OUT A FUN GAME

Look, I get it. I used to be the one that hated board games, but then I found the right ones! (And I started winning!) Round up some friends and play something you’ll all enjoy. Our group of friends loves playing games like Mexican Train, Taboo, Apples to Apples, and so much more. The fun part is that you can still incorporate your love for Netflix in the games your playing. I came across an Office trivia game at Target the other day and I can’t wait to break it out at our next hangout!

TRY SOMETHING NEW

You know those things you’ve been thinking about trying? Maybe it’s a new recipe or a new workout class. Maybe it’s finally making your way to that cute town with all the adorable shops. Whatever those things are, make a list of them and start marking them off each weekend. You can easily switch up your normal Netflix binging routine by going and doing something exciting, new, and fun.

I hope you enjoyed this list of 5 things to do instead of Netflix binging! If you have any other suggestions of things to fill your time with, please share! While I love Netflix and a good binge every now and then, I want most of my free time to be spent doing things that are actually making an impact or make memories, or simply just showing up and being present for my own life. I hope you try some of these out next weekend and if you do, be sure to snap a pic of it and tag me on Insta (@madisonbaileyanaya) so I can see!
