It was 11 o’clock in the night, and I think I was writing my 100th email. I was struggling to control my sleep, and I thought that working fifteen hours a day is a good habit which can accelerate my progress. But, I was wrong.
Next day, I opened my laptop, and I went through some of the emails that I sent. To my surprise, there were too many mistakes in the emails; in some emails, the names were wrong, while some had link references, which were not relevant to the receiver. The long hours of work were hampering my progress as well as my health. Though I was exercising on a daily basis, long sitting sessions in front of the laptop were badly affecting my health. Thus, I decided to do something about it.

Over the period of time, I tried many things and finally followed four habits that improved my work productivity plus they were good for my overall wellbeing.
Here are 4 Good Habits to improve work and life
1. Following Pomodoro Technique
It’s a technique developed by Francesco Cirillo, and there are many people who follow it. In this technique, you have to split your work into 25 minutes time intervals with short breaks between two intervals.
This habit has not only improved my focus, but it also helped me to not get overwhelmed by huge workload, as I plan each interval and concentrate only on it.

2. Standing while working
It’s a common knowledge that long sitting session is detrimental to health. A survey conducted by Plantronics concludes that sitting for long hours affects the health of seven out of ten workers.
I have built the habit of standing while working. Though I don’t stand throughout the day; I follow sit/stand combination, and I stand many times for 20-25 minutes intervals. This habit has limited my sedentary lifestyle, which is good for my health.
3. No working at Night
I have found that the quality of work reduces if I compromise my sleeping hours. Once I worked till 1 a.m., and the next was completely wasted; as I was feeling sleepy all day. That’s when I decided to never compromise my sleep. I have found that sleeping and waking up early in the morning maximize my productivity rate.
4. Following Grandma’s teachings:
Remember the time when your grandma used to tell you a bedtime story. If you give it a thought, then you will realise that most of these stories were positive and uplifting. These uplifting bedtime stories helped you to wake up in the morning with the positive thought process.
At first, I never believed it, but I tried reading positive articles before going to bed, and after some days, I saw some positive results. This small habit helped me get a positive and an energized start. Also, I prefer reading paperback content as it helps me reduce my screen time.
Though I am still on the early stage of building my own business; I think these habits will be with me throughout my life. Also, these habits can help anyone to improve their work and life.
