the way

What is your rush?

Hafez asked me.

You are following the most difficult religion of all,

He said to me,

While I was fully awake,

And lamenting my inability to love and care for every human being at all times.

The religion of love goes beyond christianity,

He said to me,

On which teachings you were raised.

You must not just turn your cheek away,

As Jesus wisely instructed you to do,

I say to you,

You must also be willing to give this person who has hurt you,

A sincere and heartfelt embrace.

Give much more than you receive,

Because like all religious faiths teach us,

It is in the giving that we receive.

Do not despair, oh eager one,

Do not feel discouraged,

And fed false truths,

I am the way,

Like the way of all those before me,

And those after me,

And yours.

Our religion is love,

The hardest religion to follow,

On this constantly shifting planet earth.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
