What is reiki and how can it help us slow down?

Reiki is a chance to slow down, quiet the mind and tap into sacred space. It has been a powerful tool helping me regain my inner strength, gain clarity and find balance. This beautiful practice has given me so much light and is a true gift.


Reiki translates from Japanese to “Universal Life Energy.” It is an incredibly high vibration, intelligent energy that purifies, balances, harmonizes and cleanses. The effects are not just physical, but emotional, mental and spiritual as well. Reiki has the ability to bring us back to our whole and natural states. During a reiki session, positive energy flows, cleansing the body of built up toxins or pain (physical and emotional). It soothes shock, calms the mind and emotions and accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal itself while promoting a state of total relaxation and well-being.

People might see a reiki practitioner to relax and strengthen overall wellbeing. But it’s not limitee to that, it can also reduce pain, stress, anxiety, help manage symptoms, and support recovery. Reiki can be a “hands-on” or “hands-off” healing experience. It can assist in the body’s natural healing process by balancing the body’s energy centers, known as the chakras. This practice is commonly known as energy healing. A reiki practitioner acts as a guide in the energy healing process as the body knows where the healing is needed. After a session, clients usually feel very relaxed, calm and grounded. Reiki can be a beautiful gift for a mother as a way to tune inward and make time for herself.

The session provides an opportunity to open ourselves up to receiving light and energy and creates space to let go and absorb the energy that lies within. This can provide clarity and a sense of connection.

During a reiki session, you may experience clarity which can assist in decision making and help strengthen your communication with others. When we turn inward, we notice where we have energetic blocks within the body and how to release tension while creating balance at the same time.
