Jonathan VanAntwerpen grew up next door to a small church at the corner of Avery Street and Beelzebub Road. He is co-editor of a series of books on religion, secularism, and the public sphere, and was founding editor of The Immanent Frame, an innovative digital publication featuring original writing by hundreds of scholars across the social sciences and humanities. The son of three parents—a teacher, a professor, and a preacher—Jonathan was originally trained as a philosopher. He holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. After a decade on the staff of the Social Science Research Council, Jonathan joined the Henry Luce Foundation, where he is currently Program Director for Religion and Theology.
