When was the last time you stopped and smelled the roses? When was the last time you enjoyed your morning, your day or your evening without feeling guilty or feeling that you should be doing something else more important? When was the last time you put yourself first?

Enjoy the small things in life

We all tend to forget to have fun and enjoy life’s little pleasures. We forget about the small things that make life so beautiful.

You don’t need to run through your days just focused on others, on work, chores and to-do lists. You can give yourself some me-time. You can focus on yourself for a few moments and just enjoy it.

Enjoy being by yourself, do something that you love, something that makes you happy – just you – without thinking about others and their needs and opinions. It’s okay, nothing bad will happen if you give yourself permission to do that.

On the contrary, if you don’t do that, you can be faced with some unpleasant consequences. If you don’t stop, regenerate and fill yourself with new, fresh energy, at some point you will crash and burn.

Don’t let it come to that – just allow yourself some breathing time every day, even if it’s just for a moment or two. Those moments are precious and necessary in this hectic, crazy world.

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast – you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.”
~ Eddie Cantor

There’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure

If you enjoy something, if it feels good and it makes you happy, then who cares what anyone else thinks. Why should you feel guilt or shame about it? Because someone once said that that’s not popular enough, deep enough, special enough, spiritual enough…?

Don’t ever apologize for who you are or what you like. Be unapologetically yourself. Always. Be authentic. No matter what anyone else thinks.

Even more, do the things you enjoy more often. The world needs more happy people.

What color is your life?

What color is your life? Is it black and white, without colors, or maybe gray? Do you have some splashes of color here and there?

Don’t postpone your joy, your happiness, and fun. Don’t postpone things you love because you feel guilty or ashamed or think that you don’t have the time for that because everything else is more important. Make time!

You are the most important person in your life.

This is not a selfish or arrogant statement. Other people, including your family, are extremely important part of your life. But in order for you to be here for them and give them your best, you need to have that best to give. The only way to do that is to put yourself first.

You can’t be your best if you constantly neglect yourself and your needs and wants.

Create your own little heaven on earth

What can you do today to bring more color into your life, both literally and figuratively?

Color your life in every way. Fill it with lots of fun, good food, great music, amazing family, and friends. Paint your walls in your favorite color, buy your favorite flowers and put them in your kitchen, living room or bedroom.

Give yourself a relaxing spa bath, put your favorite perfume on, change your hair, try a new style, buy some new clothes in a color that you love but never wear. Pamper yourself, be creative and have fun. Make little luxuries part of your everyday life.

Allow yourself to be you, express your needs, enjoy little and big things in life. Fill yourself with a fresh zest for life and recharge yourself so that you are able to live your best life and share it with others.

You owe that to the people in your life, but most importantly, you owe it to yourself. You owe it to the world to share your beauty and your light with everyone you encounter.

What you have to offer to the world is special and unique just as you are, so go and shine your light brightly.
