Never put yourself down. When you make a mistake, allow yourself to enjoy discovering that there is still more to learn and move on.

As part of my series about health and wellness leaders, I had the pleasure of interviewing Professor Margaret Rogers Van Coops. She also likes to be called Dr. Margaret. Margaret is known as “The Voice of the Oneness.” She is the “teacher of mediums,” having trained over 40,000 students internationally over the past 40+ years. In 1975 She founded Sumaris Psychic Education Center in Essex England and has evolved to establishing Sumaris Education Center & Clinic in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Her focus is on healing the whole person with her seven proprietary therapies that remove stress, fear and pain along with resolving emotional and mental issues that seem impossible to heal. Dr. Margaret has been awarded two Ph.D. degrees for her advanced work in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Integrated Medicine. Her credits include her pioneer work and research in the paranormal, psychology, psychiatry, crystal therapies, hypnosis, religious studies and her accomplishments as an accurate counselor and unusually adept psychic medium. Dr. Margaret is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Ordained Minister and counselor and is currently serving as elected Director of Education for the Universal Christ Church (School of Spiritualism). She has developed a strong internet presence, including radio and TV shows, videos on YouTube and a website with a shopping cart. Her international schedule includes demonstrations, lectures, workshops, courses and seminars. She is also available for private consultation and education.

Thank you so much for doing this with us Margaret! What is your “backstory”?

My whole life has been about teaching people to live a long and healthy life. I came in as a healer and was able to do miracle healings to war casualties in 1946–57, when I was honored by The Suffolk Regiment for my healing. This set me up to teach and heal people to find peace and love in their lives. My focus has always been to build a school/college/university where all aspects of healing, counseling and therapies would be studied by medical personnel. This is still my focus today.

Can you share the interesting story that happened to you since you started your career?

I was invited to a Spiritualist church in my early 20’s. I was told I could sit and watch and learn how to perform as a medium in public. I sat at the back and the famous Medium of that time kept insisting I move forward until I was seated in the front row. I was upset since it would be hard to watch what was going on from the front. My sponsor who had brought me to the church was talking quietly with her. She kept smiling at me and it was then that I felt uncomfortable. The service started and then came the time for messages from The Other Side (Spirit World). It was announced that a special event was to happen with someone very special. I looked back wondering who it was. Then I heard my name. I was in a panic! How could I escape! Fear held me in my seat until I was taken by the hand and led to the stage. I wanted a hole to hide in. Rows of over 200 people were staring at me as I stood on the platform. Then it happened. I started giving message, one after another. I could not stop. I was lost in it. After what seemed a long while I lied and said I had dried up with no more messages. I had given over forty people a message. I could have read everyone in the room. That was the day I truly knew I was a medium and was listening to The Oneness in public. What followed was the local churches asking me to come and give messages to their congregations. Finally, once again, I was tricked. When I got to my local church, it was announced I had to give the sermon. With nothing prepared, I did the only thing I knew to do. I went into trance and gave the sermon, to then awaken to staring faces and my need to get back to a hidden seat as soon as possible. That day led to many open doors where I went on to teach in a time when no one knew anything about The Oneness.

The funniest mistake You ever made when you first started your career? What lesson you learned from that?

When I first came to USA I was asked if I wanted to go to a Horse House in Mexico. My friend and I agreed. We thought it strange that he did not say Stable. But then we thought that Americans were generally strange in those days. So, he drove us over the border and pulled up outside a crumbling building. He proceeded to lead us down to a basement. My friend and I asked, “Are the Horses down here?” He said, “Yes they are!” then we went through a door into a Whore House. Then we realized what fools we were, but not to be disturbed we sat with the working girls, talked about self-esteem, worth and values and encouraged them to get out of the business and become hairdressers or nail repairs etc. We left and gave our addresses in UK. About six months later I got a letter from one of the girls in the whore house who had taken my advice and was studying a hair stylist course and the other two were doing nails for women… So, our trip was meant to be — to save three lives and hopefully they will do the same for other women in Mexico. This had already happened in UK too when a British Lord invited me to accompany him to what I thought was an evening meal at a restaurant, but which actually was an upper class place for “working girls” who were “on the game,” as we said in England.

Are you working on any new or exciting projects now?

Yes, currently, I am working on publishing my latest book about the Cellular-neuro-muscular-memory and how it is stimulated by The Soul Structure Coding from the Spirit self before birth. It is entwined within the DNA and developed within the personality and character of the child as it grows into adulthood, influenced by all happenings that build up as the RNA causes episodes of fear, pain, anger, guilt and loss. I channeled this book using the Trump family ancestors including Donald Trump. It is called Donald Trump: The Enigma of Society.

My Crystal Acupuncture & Teragram therapy combined with Metaphysiotherapy are training courses that I teach which have been given to me by The Oneness where I have healed many people of various mental, emotional, physical issues, including P.D. M.D. M.S, cancer and more serious illnesses where people have gone home to die. I believe that life is to be lived and I help people to do just that. I am working on teaching all theory courses online with physical hands on workshops in various towns next year.

I am also focused on teaching 1-hour lectures online so that I can build up my followers to become trained Metaphysiotherapists, PowerStone Therapists, psychic counselors and various other Healing Modalities as time passes and more people want to study with me. I intend all my educational classes and courses to be free and/or to fit within a person’s budget.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?

I have to say the most influential person is my husband Stephen Van Coops, Ph.D. DCH(IM) Our relationship was meant to be. I was on tour in LA when I did the first Mind, Body, Spirit Festival put on by the British. I was their Keynote speaker. As a result of that event, I was asked to do the Health Expo in Long Beach, where I met him. He was doing something very new at that time, taking psychic aura pictures of people. I was doing readings at my booth when someone showed her photo, asking me if the colors around her were accurate. They were and so I searched for the photographer and found Steve! The rest is history as we evolved together. He is always supporting me with office work, editing my books and so much more… today, he is the most loyal person I have ever met. We have had our ups and downs which only made us both stronger and more prepared to do our work to help people get through their issues and problems.

Can you share your top three “lifestyle tweaks” that will help people feel great?

  • Never put yourself down. When you make a mistake, allow yourself to enjoy discovering that there is still more to learn and move on.
  • When out and about, always close down the Major and Minor Chakras, Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Spleen, (Runs left side rear diagonally through to right front side. This Chakra is vital to be balanced. Visualize a seesaw and make it parallel to the ground and then close it.) Base/Root Chakra, hands and feet. To close simply imagine by using the muscles i.e. rub the top of your head, frown, swallow, breath. Pull tummy muscles in and then relax and do the same with private parts. Then stretch arms down toward feet to balance and close the Spleen Chakra. This way you avoid picking up negativity from anyone.
  • Always find something creative to do during the day or eve when your brain can relax and rest. Meditate and enjoy your own company.

Is there a particular book that made an impact on you? Can you share the story?

Until I was ten, I was not a good reader, so I thought. Dad kept on about I should read a novel. Finally, he took me to buy the book, Black Beauty. I sat down and read the whole thing that day. That was the beginning of my reading constantly. I still love to read anything that educates me. Black Beauty taught me about the cruelty of humans; the suffering of animals and the hope of healing and peace with a good ending.

If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of wellness to the most amount of people, what would that be?

I would form The American Metaphysical Society, bringing all Alternative Therapies, Remedies and various aspects of healing to the peoples of the world where therapists must study and qualify In their fields, and where doctors and medical staff must attend to learn in addition to the medical qualifications. Alternative therapies and healing, which includes psychology and psychiatry has to be re-evaluated and standards greatly improved. All my course are five levels of intense theory and practice over many months, even years in most cases. We have moved through experimenting and exploring; now is the time to lay down standards and truly become qualified for those young ones now advancing towards a new world.

Can you share your “5 Things I wish someone had told me”?

  • You don‘t have to copy your parents at all!
  • You always have freedom of choice
  • Fear is your friend; learning to use it is key to recovery
  • No one will ever know you the way you know yourself
  • Nothing is done quickly, and the best takes a long time to succeed.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

As I learned from the Oneness, I shared it and there always still seem to be plenty of people who want to listen. I have my radio show, youtube.com channels and blogs as well as many public performances teaching and demonstrating and so I feel, according to my journey and the lack of support, I have struggled a great deal to find a balance between income and places to teach. Once things come together though, I see the successes and would not change anything. It is time for all of us who are teaching to come together and support one another. We have all discovered skills that are our own and sharing them is very important. I have often waited for people to ask me what I do, since I do so much. I am sure there are a lot of other people like me who would want the same things I want. After all The Oneness is in all of us.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson quote?”

Where there is a will, there is a way. I know I always knew I had the will to do something, but finding the way was often hard since many people were still believing in the witchcraft laws that are still legal today unfortunately. So that is one thing I would like to do. End those Dark Ages ideas that religion gave us. Healing is natural and there will always be people who can do it.

Some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, sports, and entertainment read this column. Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with and why? He or she might just see this if we tag them:)

I have always admired Oprah Winfrey because she has done so much for everyone by bringing a lot of insight and inspiration to so many women and yes even lots of men too. She is a true pioneer and I always felt akin to her. When the world tells you ‘you cannot do something’ and yet you go out and do it and succeed, one has to acknowledge that God and the Oneness has played their part in all of this. I think Oprah is an absolute angel. I also have often felt drawn to Cher and Lindsey Wagner for the same reason. These are all women who, like me, despite hardships went on to do what they came to do. I hope I will be remembered for my body of work when I die. I know that no one will forget these three women mentioned above and the great role models they provide.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
