Life’s hardships can cause you to feel disconcerted and loose the zeal to go on however, inculcating daily self soothing habits can help you to stay motivated.

It is natural for human beings to want to focus on the big underachieved goals and lose sight of the little wins. We often stay fixated on things like the failing economy, the promotion we are yet to receive or that terrible boss; and overlook the present, like the peaceful sound of nature or the amazing experience of day break. To stay motivated, it is important that you practice gratitude for the ” Now”. American TV Personality Germany Kent once said, “Any day above ground is a good day”, and in other to develop a skin deep resolve to go through life despite the odds, you should keep these in mind.

Celebrate the little wins

We experience little wins on a daily basis, and the little wins can motivate you. Understand that life happens in stages and every little win takes you one step closer to achieving a big win. So it is important that you acknowledge that small wins by, keeping a gratitude journal, share your wins with your loved ones and rewarding yourself.

Appreciate the “Now”

Appreciating the “Now” entails, that you forget the past and future and concentrate on the present happenings around you. Meditation practices like Mindfulness could be helpful. Most times our mind gets overwhelmed with a flurry of activities and thoughts and we easily lose sight of the most important things of the present. You only live once, so you should savor every single moment that life presents us with.

Love up on your loved ones and receive Love in-return

To stay motivated, it is important that you prioritize your loved ones and spend quality time loving up on them. Experience birthday celebrations, be there for the “Firsts” and be ever available for the little moments. Love is a true driving force and is powerful enough to keep you motivated.

Give back

Giving back by volunteering in your community or through charity groups will expose you to people and situations that are going through much more difficult circumstances, and it will help you appreciate your condition and will arouse a sense of appreciation.

Manage your expectations

Placing undue expectations of people and circumstances can cause disappointments, so it is important that you go into situations keeping an open mind. To stay motivated, go into situations without preconceived notions and ensure that you have fun along the way.
