How to improve self-worth is not a popular subject to discuss, not that it is not worth considering, because you often get lost in negative thoughts that you do not realize that you are losing your value. When this subject is brought before a panel of psychologists, they say that for people its ambit does not go beyond the range of confidence, however, its scope is large.

Being confident about your dress, personality and communication is not enough when it comes to self-esteem. Psychologists say that what you feel about yourself is equally important. How you value and perceive yourself and your abilities is known as self-esteem. It is based on your opinions and beliefs that are very difficult to change over time.

Studies have found that people suffer from low self-esteem as negative thoughts flood their mind, for instance, “I cannot do it,” “I am just for nothing,” “They are smarter than me,” “I am not good at anything,” etc, however, these thoughts cross your mind due to the external environment, typically by hearing nasty comments and jokes from your peers. Results also revealed that family environment – parenting, cognitive stimulation, and home environment – in childhood has a long term impact on self-esteem.  

If you continue to slog you off, you will sentence yourself to a lifetime of self-criticism. Being bullied, experiencing discrimination, losing your job, running out of money, relationship problems, ongoing stress is divorce are some of the precursors of low self-esteem. Withstand negative thoughts and self-criticism

Whether it is due to comparison or remarks that people give you, negative thoughts cause frustration and stress. It is natural that you will not be able to get rid of them if you take these things to heart. Your inner voice also creates a problem for you. Identify what stops you from doing what you want to do. Take a blank paper and a pen and jot down all thoughts. Writing them down will help you release yourself from the claws of inner critics. Identify your accomplishments and note them. Even a tiny achievement like winning a discipline award in your school will boost your self-esteem. You will feel that you did something good.

Do not regret at your mistakes

To err is human. If you have committed some mistakes in the past, you should learn from them instead of regretting. Raking up your past mistakes will demotivate you. Do not over think what you did in the past. Instead, make a plan how you can save your future.

Exercise

You will be surprised to know, but exercise really helps boost self-esteem. Studies have discovered that physical activity has a positive influence on the way you think and feel about yourself. Body image plays a big role to boost self-worth. Some people start feeling depressed when they put on weight, their belly sticks out and face gets wrinkled. Such flaws can be amended with regular physical exercise. It will also improve your mood and mental health. It is the best way to refresh your mind, body, and soul.

Having the right self-esteem is crucial if you want to live your life peacefully. The best way to maintain the right level is by challenging negative thoughts and taking hold of your inner critics. Identify your accomplishments and skills and use them to achieve your goals. Stop keeping up with Joneses and do what you like to do. Learn from your mistakes and do not repeat them. Do exercise to keep your mind and body healthy. All of these ways will help you boost your self-esteem.
