It’s a great thing being a high achieving woman.

‘High achieving’ or ‘ambitious’ are not necessarily words I identified with earlier in my career even though others would at times describe me that way.

I’m solution oriented, pro-active, creative and when I have an idea, I generally don’t sit around twiddling my thumbs – I get up and do something about it and I’m the type of person who sees it through to the end.

I’m a finisher…..it may take me time, but I generally complete what I start.

Is that ambitious? Is that a high achiever? In the eyes of many yes, and I’ll go with that. I’m not into labels – I am who I am.

If as a woman I’m inspired to use my abilities to make an impact – then being high-achieving and ambitious are simply by-products of all the good that comes from it.

Was I always this way? No.

There was a time when I was paralyzed by inaction because simply put, I wasn’t on my right path or on purpose in life. With the right intentions and actions I got on track and as soon as that happened, I was hit with a massive dose of inspired action and a decade later, I’m still inspired and I’m still doing what I love.

I’m not the only one. I meet countless women every day who have the same drive to make a difference in the world with their unique abilities and talents.

Our clients are claiming their place at the table as key decision makers, are getting ear marked for high profile roles and positions, are creating monthly side incomes of $10k+ using their talents, are providing the highest level of services and products to their clients.

These are super talented people with a desire to be of greater service in this world.

Maybe you can relate? Maybe you’re already making waves and are rocking it in your field? Kudos to you.

Maybe you have a big vision you’d like to see materialise? Big ideas or goals that could make an impact? Perhaps you long to fulfil a dream or your potential with your unique abilities and talents?

Ambition is a great thing, but let’s talk about the dangers of being a high achieving woman . . .

Having endless possibilities and talents is fantastic but if it’s not managed well it can actually create problems. Without a single focus or direction, it often leaves the ambitious person going in circles with very little to show for it at the end.

The other danger of being a high achieving woman is that many of us are constantly in the mode of ‘doing’. Feeling inadequate unless we are ‘doing’ and producing. It’s as if as women we have been conditioned to constantly give and when we take a second for ourselves there’s a lot of guilt and shame surrounding it.

Why?

This is made worse by the need for”perfection” and being dissatisfied until things meet our unrealistic standards which have been put upon us by ourselves and no-one else.

Nothing good ever comes from pushing our limits and putting our own needs last. We make everything and everyone else around us the priority – be it our work, managers, clients, spouse, children or even friends, which often leads to breakdown, overwhelm or burn out.

We’re capable of producing and creating but the way we’re doing it isn’t serving us in the long run…. there’s the mindset of needing to do it alone instead of capitalising on the support that’s available to us.

I had an episode in my former career as a management consultant where my health took a hit. I vowed never to get myself in that state again. I eventually left corporate and started several businesses from 2010 onwards but I’ve maintained a lifestyle ever since that puts my needs first and as a result, work and life are EASIER, joyful and I’m able to make a bigger impact than I ever imagined.

The issue is that many women are trying to fit their lives around their careers or businesses/business models and end up losing sight of who they are, what they’re doing and more importantly WHY they’re doing it.

I believe a woman is truly successful when she has a career or business that aligns completely to HER, and not the other way around.

History shows us that when women came together and collaborate they are bigger than the sum of their parts. They’re able to achieve much greater outcomes in less time when they create from this supportive and nurturing environment and as a result every woman adds value and EVERY woman thrives.

If you’re like most women you’ve been conditioned to believe that in order to get ahead you need to operate from a masculine energy of “HUSTLE”.

You were taught that you must constantly be in motion and keep pushing to get what you want, that you must work harder irrespective of how you feel.

This is a myth.

Instead of swimming upstream and making things harder for yourself it’s time to start tuning in and trusting yourself.

You are enough without the need to prove anything to anyone.

We’ve moved away from our true nature of simply ‘being’ and letting our inner guidance direct us, trusting that we’ll do exactly what’s required in the right way in any given moment.

As women we have innate qualities to attract and invite in opportunities rather than chase after them.

When we work from feminine and intuitive power, we push less and instead feel ‘pulled’ in the right direction to manifest our desires and attract opportunities effortlessly.

I’ve seen this in my own life time an time again and in the lives of my clients.

In 2018 if you’re looking to make a greater impact and live more fully, it’s time to do things differently. It’s time to tap into your innate power. It’s time NOW to take a step back in order to propel yourself forward more effortlesly than before.

Whether you’re looking to smash the invisible glass ceilings in your mind that are limiting your growth, whether you’re looking to generate a healthy side income with your hidden talents or repurpose your career altogether for a path that sees you thrive and come alive, NOW is the time to start.

Start by eliminating the labels and limits on yourself. You CAN be ambitious and have dreams to BE, DO or HAVE whatever you desire. You CAN make a greater impact with your talents and achieve all this by doing less- you just need to do things differently.

It’s time to start leveraging the right support, resources and tools to help you achieve more in less time.
