We Are One

Inspired by the murals of Diego Rivera; Aztec and Mayan culture

We Are One

They tell us    we are many

We know        we are One

We come    from the same place

A field of lace    a Field of Grace

Of Grace that folds    into time

Of time that folds    into a line

A line in Africa    through Sands of Time

Over the Euphrates    through the Silken Road

Of line    past the Sherpas of Nepal

Who sow the dusk to dawn    and hear

The downbeat of the Sky    beating

Through the Bering Strait    past the shriek of Eagles’ cry

To Ice of Mountain    field of mud

That melts into the Plain of Blood

What Noah saw before The Flood

When Mayans rose to plant maíz

That fills the veins of Sun

To streams that melt into    the plains we call The One

They tell us    we are many

We know        we are One

We come from the same    Field of Grace

           before the Line

                     of time and space

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
