We have all heard the stories of those who have immigrated to another country with $100.00 in their pocket. This is also true of my own parents who moved to Canada in the late 60’s/early 70’s from the United Kingdom. I have certainly showcased former Living Fearlessly with Lisa McDonald global radio/podcast guests, who have echoed these same sentiments based upon their own journey! Never before however, have I had the opportunity or the privilege to interview a person who made this massive leap of faith with only $2.00 in their pocket. JUST WOW!
My amazing guest, friend, and colleague, Riadh Hamdi of last week, is this said person! You can listen to the full interview here:
I have always believed that one clearly discovering their individual life purpose is not derived or birthed out of their passion as much as it is unearthed and unleashed from having connected with their deepest pain. This was also the case for the inception of my own Living Fearlessly with Lisa McDonald life purpose, which is predicated on – Uplifting You To Fear Less And To Live More!
Riadh Hamdi, equally resonates with this as his own truth, too! When one has exceeded their limit of being sick and tired of living with their current and dire circumstances…circumstances, which no-longer serves them nor is aligned with their soul, spirit, heart or mind – it often catapults the trajectory for one striving and reaching for the pinnacle of ‘success.’ Success as we all know is defined very uniquely to each individual person.
Riadh was driven to drastically alter the course of his day-to-day reality as a result of bloody feet, his Mother’s tears, and nothing in the fridge or cupboards to eat. (Fully detailed story in the enclosed podcast link interview). Anyone who has ever felt desperation in their lives, knows that there are two mindset options in which to adopt – do nothing and become the victim of your own circumstances or do something and become the warrior in your own story.
It was not beneath Riadh to clean toilets or sleep on floors to prove his literal and figurative hunger or worthiness for a new beginning for he and his family. The only word Riadh made a priority to initially learn upon his arrival to the United States of America was, ‘job.’ Riadh uttered that word over and over again to anyone who was willing to open their front door to him until finally the day had arrived whereby, someone had decided to take a chance on him.
A fierce commitment to accelerated growth and development in the right, forward-facing direction, coupled with an ‘in-it-to-win-it’ non-negotiable attitude…IS..what uplifted Riadh and his family out of inter-generational poverty. Riadh was too laser-focused on achieving his end goal to deviate from what the tangible result and outcome HAD TO BE! There was no PLAN B or contingency plan. It was PLAN A only and at Mach Speed! BRAVO, RIADH!
There was zero time available or allocated for self-pity. Instead of Riadh asking, ‘Why’ this was happening to him, he instead intuitively chose to hone the clarity required for what his inherent ‘Why’ was for elevating himself and his family out of the abyss. Once he became exceptionally clear of what the long-term objective was – there was no stopping, Riadh!
In my experience, there is always a direct correlation between a persons’ success story of today to the backstory of their yesterday. To underscore this truth, I share with you a quote which says it all, “It takes a lot of hard work to get lucky!” ‘Lucky’ – an often misused and misunderstood word in its true meaning, and in its appropriate application.
People such as Riadh who know only too well what it feels like to have nothing, to feel like nothing, to be regarded as nothing – knows what it means to feel unwavering and immense gratitude. Gratitude for the small things, the big things and the in-between things – essentially – grateful for everything! Although Riadh does not live in the past…Riadh is always mindful of where he came from and is forever cognizant of what it means to be genuinely humble.
From the centre of my heart, Riadh, I thank you on behalf of the loyal radio listeners and the Living Fearlessly with Lisa McDonald Podcast Subscribers – for your vulnerability and candour while on the airwaves with me. Thank you for keeping it real by being real. Thank you for all that you continuously do to pay it forward and to be of service to the collective! Thank you for all the ways you choose to uplift and inspire others through all your bodies of work! I am a better person for knowing you our friend! Thank you for growing me!
