We had a chance to catch up with Paula and this is what she shared up with us.

Besides being an epic author, you are also a leading Reiki Master and teacher. Can you tell our readers what Reiki is and why it is an important holistic modality? What made you choose to devote so much time and energy into becoming a Reiki Master and sharing it with the world?

The word “Reiki” means Universal Power (“Rei”) and Energy Life Force (“KI”).  Reiki is a spiritually guided life force energy that provides positive nurturing to the body’s organs and tissues, also working on the mind and emotions. It has been proven that it strengthens our immune system. It is a powerful healing force. I trained in Reiki almost 14 years ago, (to help a beloved pet), and it was life changing, and because of this, it has become a great passion of mine.  I offer in-person and long-distance Reiki to clients and love to train others in this powerful holistic modality.

Given the times we now live in where many people around the world are cannot go see a Reiki practitioner for a session. I’ve heard that you can do long- distance Reiki. Can you explain how that works?

With Reiki, the life-force power knows no boundaries – it goes beyond time and space.  So, Reiki can be sent around the world. I have done so for years and witnessed amazing benefits. With this amazing technique, long distance Reiki enables us to send a very powerful healing to a specific person, animal, or situation from a distance. A long distance session can be purchased through my website www.wellnessinspired.com or I am available by email [email protected] for questions. The benefits I’ve seen over the years in sending others long distance Reiki is beyond words. I love sharing this beautiful Reiki method with my students as well, because it is such a gift to be able to do so.

You are a major influencer, having been featured with other high-profile women like Oprah Winfrey, Melinda Gates, Mary Barra (CEO of General Motors), and Virginia Rometty (CEO of IBM) in a high- profile publication.  But you have also faced many challenges and losses during your life, which you have overcome. What was one of the keys to overcoming those events and finding happiness?

In my book, “Why Am I So Happy”, I share several challenges in my life and the perspectives they taught me. I believe one of the biggest keys for me in this was gratitude. For example, as a teenager, when I had the loss of a dear loved one, and nearly committed suicide due to my anger at the world, I had to make a choice: Live the rest of my life in anger and sadness, or, be grateful that I had the gift of that person in my life. I realized what he meant to me, and that I would carry the great joy and memories I experienced with that life connection. I also made the choice to be grateful for the people and blessings that were in my life at that moment. From the age of 17 and on, I realized that tomorrow is not guaranteed, and that I will cherish and take time to celebrate the happiness of today.  That really was the beginning of how I am able to look at challenges in life as new pathways on my life’s journey.

With so many people these days living in fear, what can they do on a daily basis to stay centered and not only find happiness, but hope as well? “Why am I So Happy?” really is an amazing read that had me reading long past the time I should have been in bed. I’m sure your fans are wondering, so I have to ask, is there another book in your future?

To answer the first question about living in fear, I go back to my answer in the last question.  It’s really important to look at the blessings hiding behind the challenges and focus on those.  If you continue to focus on the fear, it will consume you.  So, really look for those blessings and find gratitude in them.

In regard to writing another book, I have been asked that question a lot. The answer is yes. I am currently doing more writing. First, I am co-authoring a Reiki training manual this year. This manual can be used by Usui Reiki Masters around the world in their classes, and I look for it to be released soon. After that, I will be finishing a second motivational book. I’ve come to believe that our passion and how we focus that defines our existence and our manifestation. My passion is serving and inspiring others. I have many more words to share. My book “Why Am I So Happy” is my “opening chapter”, and I look forward to sharing more of the story as a way to help others.
