These days, most of the modern world (rightfully) extolls the importance and well documented benefits of meditation. You don’t have to be a practicing Buddhist or Zen Master to partake, but the truth is, not everyone has the time (or patience) for it. For many, a day in the life consists of running from A to B with scant down time in between. So what to do when you have a build up of energetic sludge that you need to shake off or want to “get right” before starting your day?
The energy clearing that I detail below is one that I always use with my clients before beginning a session. It’s quick, simple, and straight to the point. It can be done anytime, anywhere, and is especially helpful for people who are just getting their spiritual feet wet.
Begin in a comfortable position, seated or standing depending on where you are, and close your eyes. Place your hands on your thighs, palms up or down, however you are most comfortable.
Take three deep breaths inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth with a loud sigh each time. Allow your breath to naturally regulate and focus on the steady intake of air expanding and contracting your lungs. Continue breathing through the nostrils.
Visualize a spot in the sky and claim it as your own. It can be blue and sunny, or located in the outer banks of the Universe, whatever feels right for you.
Now, imagine the top of your head opening like a camera shutter, and a beam of ethereal light streaming down from your heavenly spot and pouring into you like warm, liquid gold.
Visualize this healing light coursing through your body beginning at your head, flowing down your neck, shoulders, chest, arms, stomach, torso, and legs until your entire body is shimmering with Divine energy. As you begin to glow from within, imagine all of the stress, negativity and worries of the week being pushed out of the palms of your hands and soles of your feet like black tar.
Hold this visualization until there is nothing left inside of you except for golden, celestial light. See yourself filled and surrounded with it, growing brighter with each intake of breath. Finally, when all of the tar has seeped out your body and you are a radiant vessel, seal the window on the top of your head and slowly open your eyes.
If you’re persnickety, shake your hands and/or feet to flick off any residual negative energy that you feel may be lingering.
You may close with a mantra, prayer or even a simple “thank you” to the heavens, your spot in the sky, and/or your Higher Power.
Now carry on fully conscious and aware that you have been detoxed, infused, and fortified with sacred and powerful energy!
