I recently got the chance to speak to Mikhail Alfon, president and co-founder of Blue Light Media based in Orange Country, California.

I was able to ask him a bunch of questions and here’s our conversation:

Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

I’m Mikhail Alfon, President and Co-Founder of Blue Light Media based in Orange County, California. I host a podcast called Oversharing. Outside of work, I’m involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation, an avid boxing fan, and fancy dinners are my vice.

What has been your greatest source of inspiration?

My fiance, Alexa, my mother and my team at Blue Light Media.  Knowing that I have to come through and perform for them every day to help build a better life and work environment for all of us is my oxygen, gasoline, and midnight snack.

What values and principles do you attribute your success to?

I honestly just want to create scenarios for people to become their best-self personally and professionally in an environment where they know they are loved and are supported even if they’re not ‘good’ at something. Everyone can be good at something, but it might not be the original job they were hired for. I believe that if I focus on doing that, and supporting my squad, I can’t fail.

What words of advice would you like to share with anyone out there who wants to excel?

Do. The. Work.

Sometimes the work shows up as the small things that you think don’t matter, but once you take care of those the big things tend to take care of themselves.

What is your favourite quote in the world and why?

“Give whatever you can and if you feel like you have nothing just remember that kind words can go a long way”. My Grandma’s husband told me this, and it just stuck with me. It’s relatively obvious why I think it’s important, but I also think it just speaks to the notion that everyone has something to offer
