It never ceases to amaze me just how small this world becomes, especially when navigating within the realm of personal growth and personal development. One of my mentoring clients, the amazing, Marni Allison – also interviewed on radio and featured on Thrive Global, was extremely gracious to have referred someone to me….someone Marni is closely working with on writing projects, as a prospective guest on Living Fearlessly with Lisa McDonald. I love people who share the wealth with others as it relates to resources, connections, and opportunities. Marni is most definitely one of those selfless and generous individuals! And because of Marni’s altruistic nature and wanting others to reap the same benefits and opportunities she feels she has personally received herself…the door was then swung open for Heather Andrews and I to also play together in the radio sandbox! Truly grateful to Marni for having initiated this lovely introduction!

Outside of Marni having sung the praises of Heather Andrew’s, I was initially impressed, and before even officially speaking with Heather, when I noticed ‘followitthru’ (follow it thru) as part of Heather’s email address handle. People such as myself, notice details like that, for we all know, particularly in the business world…how one chooses to advertise themselves, brand themselves, present themselves – is signature to the hallmark of how one ultimately becomes perceived, received, and embraced. What underscores this truth even more so, is if a fellow entrepreneur, potential colleague is congruent with their own branded messaging. If the representation on paper of who they say they are and what they say they stand for is in fact one and the same. Trusting Marni’s judgement, coupled with as I say, the little, yet very important details…resulted in a wonderful telephone call with Heather, followed up by an enjoyable and a very informative conversation  with Heather on the global airwaves!

It is always a much appreciated learning opportunity for me, to sponge up what it is other fellow entrepreneurs are doing, so as to continuously hone and expand upon their own business aka ‘labour of love.’ It is a breath of fresh air to talk the same language with someone who understands the multi-layered complexities, intricacies, and multitude of moving pieces in their every day work. This is how entrepreneurs learn from other entrepreneurs. Heather and I share in common, our commitment to making other people shine through our own individual platforms and mediums of which we provide and bring to market. Heather has done a brilliant job in representing her clientele, and taking them and their bodies of work, to greater heights!

For a book to truly resonate with its intended target audience, and intended demographic of readers, it is imperative that the author of that book be seen, heard, and understood. This is particularly important if the contents of the book or the specific subject matter of the book, require the author to be vulnerable, open, raw, candid and transparent. For an author to be successful in becoming relatable to its readers, this means that the publisher of that book, must have established and earned a deep level of trust with the author, in which to achieve the desired and preferred outcome for a finished product. This is true of book reviews, endorsements, testimonials, and the volume of units sold or purchased. An author/publisher relationship is extremely important, especially to the author. For Heather to have churned out as many bestselling books for as many clients she has continued to provide service to, is a true testament to Heather being very good at what she does. Yes, book selling comes with certain formulas attached to the entire process, but if people do not trust you, or see the proof in the history of your results, or in the quality of client referrals and feedback, that can shut down a business – any business – very quickly. Kudos to you, Heather! Job well done!

Business can be a serious subject, delivered or presented in a serious manner, with one being poised as having a very serious demeanour. It was lovely engaging in some light-hearted and humorous moments with Heather throughout the duration of our interview, together. Wit, banter, and sarcasm goes a long way in my books, as it is often essential for navigating the crazy, rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship, particularly when much of what we do is often done in isolation.
