Largest care organization in the U.S. published a nutritional update for physicians

It probably won’t surprise you that the healthiest diet, the best diet for weight loss, and the most effective diet for fighting disease are all one and the same.

In 2013, the largest care organization in the U.S. published a nutritional update for physicians. In it, they told 15,000 doctors that a plant-based diet was the best recommendation they could make for patients wanting to lose weight, eat healthy, or fight chronic disease.

Specifically, this update recommended a diet free of meats, eggs, dairy and processed foods—and rich in whole plants.

We’re all aware that prescriptions and “quick fix” weight loss solutions are on the rise. Unfortunately, these “easy” answers often miss the root cause of symptoms, and doctors frequently overlook the slimming, healing potential of proper nutrition.

Patients suffering from obesity or the weight-based problems that come with it (ie. diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure) should, according to this update, receive recommendations for a plant-based diet.

In fact, this diet is so effective that patients with high blood pressure, for example, might experience such a drastic change that doctors need to adjust their medications—or stop prescribing them altogether!

Here’s the big question: why aren’t doctors suggesting plant-based diets as the first solution for weight loss or treatment of chronic illness, before they pull out the heavy medications?

Lack of awareness is probably a big factor. Both physicians and patients must get educated about these plant-based solutions. What’s more, the pharmaceutical industry probably doesn’t want you to know that you have the power to eat for the slim, thriving, sexy body of your dreams.
