About Louis Price

Louis Price is known by soul music fans for his stint as the lead singer of the Temptations from 1977 to 1980. Following Dennis Edwards’ departure from the group, Price took over the vocal spotlight on the Tempts’ two Atlantic Records albums, Hear to Tempt You and Bare Back.

Born and raised in Chicago to gospel singer Vernon Oliver Price, Louis attended John Marshall High School and at only 24 years old he was asked to replace Dennis Edwards in the Temptations in Los Angeles. After 2 albums with The Temptations he was heard in Europe and was asked to join The Drifters with Ben E. “Stand By Me” King and Johnny “Under The Boardwalk” Moore in England

In the late 1980s, Price was personally signed by Berry Gordy and recorded his self-titled debut album, Louis Price

Price expanded his musical range by singing and acting in television and film. His voice can be heard on the music of such movies as Rio, Norbit, The Lion King and Happy Feet. He also gained acting roles in the movie White Men Can’t Jump and a lead role in the television series, My Wife and KidsIn a great irony, Price also served as the voice of Dennis Edwards in the television miniseries The Temptations.

Louis also did commercials and recording session with artists like Michael Jackson, Michael Buble, Elton John, and Leon Russell.

When Doves Cry, by Prince, was recently re-imagined and released with vocals by Louis Price and music by Starr Parodi. His vocal arraignment of Carol of The Bells for the Carol King holiday album is a staple during the season.

Louis Price has consulted on music projects with Seal and others, and performed at the Grammys with Beyonce, at the Oscars with Common and John Legend, and on The Voice with Adam Levine. Louis performed with Thirty Seconds to Mars “Walk On Water” on the VMA’s, the Ellen Show, College Football, and on their album. The group was appreciative to have Louis add some vocals and historical flavor to their music.

An avid golfer, Price regularly travels the country playing top tier courses. He also continues to perform as a solo act, performing Temptations songs, his originals, as well as a variety of other material. For more information please visit https://www.louisprice.tv/about
