For years I searched for some magical secret that would help me finally figure out how to really get things done. Something that would help me form great habits that would propel me to live the life that I truly wanted to live. Then one day I figured it out…
Ready for it? Are you sitting down? Ok, here goes.
1) Decide what you want.
2) Break it down into simple tasks.
3) Believe in yourself.
4) Figure out how to make the most important stuff habits that you do EVERYDAY.
5) Get started.
6) Do the work.
7) Do the work even when you don’t want to.
8) Do the work especially when you don’t want to.
That’s really it. My mind wants me to make it so much more complicated and believe that it can’t be that simple. But here’s the thing…
It’s really, really simple but it’s also really, really hard.
That’s why my mind wants to make it more complicated. It wants me to figure out a way to not have to put in the work. To not have do something that I know I need to do because it’s going to be uncomfortable.
That was the real revelation to me. Life is meant to be amazing but it’s not supposed to always be comfortable. Growth comes from pain. At least that has always been the case for me.
So I wake up each day at 5am, I say thanks and I give it all I’ve got each day. And it’s amazing how things seem to magically happen when I put in the work.
