The onsets of technological advancements have been marking prominent effects in our daily lives and have completely transformed how we perform even the most basic routinely tasks.. A Predominant feature being Intelligent Technology or IT has inevitably crept into the software of our smart devices and become an integral part of our lives; causing many individuals to solely depend on them to perform basic tasks like tracking their sleep, in order to make positive changes in their routines.

Being such a rapidly developing field of study, the designing and advertisement industry is going through a drastic revolution, contrary to the conventional perception of just being restricted to print media. The technologies related to Artificial Technology have challenged designers to work beyond just physical forms and use favorable tools such as social media and cloud computing as powerful assets in performing to the best of their potential. It has also given creative designers the ability to portray their work to the mainstream media in much more interactive and interesting ways than ever before.

We’ve talked plenty about how technology is having q wide spectrum of effects on the graphic designing industry; following are some of the aspects of what the future of designing is most likely to hold:

  1. The Rise Of Artificial Intelligence In Designing

Artificial Intelligence goes beyond just being the new buzzword in the designing world; which has started to redefine the relationship between the producer and customer. No, it’s not like they portray in movies; robots will not overpower humans but, what they will do is assist us to do our work with much more efficiency. Since AI is all about speed and maximum optimization, this will greatly help in developing speedy design prototypes such as allowing basic sketches to be scanned and thereby, cause UI components to spring up to render the prototype in alignment and other such functions.

Most designers today have to face the daily tedious task to create the same graphic in multiple languages as well as the dreaded process of product localization. With AI, however, the only job that will be required from the designer will be to add adjustments wherever necessary.

Although very unpopular due to the expenses involved, AI is being used by corporate designing companies to build 3D VR more quickly, along with the use AI algorithm that’s pulled from the database of dozen of diverse patterns, to create millions of different versions of graphic identities. Some of the major companies with Al-injected web designs are Wix, Firedrop and The Grid; allowing users to input preferences and get passable websites within a few minutes time.

  • Reaching Customers With Physical Immersion Designs

The designing industry will soon be transformed into a completely different dimension, with the onset of development related to an entire physical immersion with customers, when providing services. Pokémon Go will be remembered in our history books as being a $1 billion-grossing behemoth that merely scratched the surface of the physical immersion technology. This is just a glimpse into the window of potential benefits this technology actually holds in the modern human world. 

We cannot go on talking about physical emersion technology without taking parallel reality into consideration; referring to the intertwined product of VR and AR technologies. This is a rather advanced version of both, as it allows different people to see different things at a single time due to its unique feature of simultaneously outputting a million controllable rays of different colors. This is made possible by the combination of the following features:

  • Extensive programming interfaces
  • Using environmental modeling tools

The future of the designing industry revolves less around just viewing a product as an eye-candy but more about adding emotional, cerebral and personal sentiments to their design and marketing.  A recent experiment was conducted by London-based designers called ‘The Feelies’ who created a multi-sensory VR project named ‘The Fight to Defend Heart of Amazon’. In this, they added various aromas and sounds using environmental field recordings and sensory mapping. Similar research was also conducted by ‘Kitchen theory’ with collaborative gastronomic projects that fused fields of gastronomy and psychology into its networking event. In this, they worked with the Science Museum’s craving exhibit to test how the shape of food packaging affects the perception of food by people. 

  • Advancement in Neurotic Networks

Imagine a world where whatever product you buy is based on your own customized preference and you literally never have to worry about compromising your interests with what you get. This technology fundamentally aims to mimic the brain in producing designs, interfacing and digital advertising driven by the user’s mood and emotions.

You must have seen a movie scene in which a computer chip is installed into a person’s mind, in order to gain control of their actions. This may be portrayed in a negative light, whereas, in reality, this can actually prove to be an extremely beneficial technology in the future of designing. On the contrary to the common belief of this technology ‘stealing your thoughts, as explained by conspiracy theorists, it can be used to customize customer designs according to individual preferences. Most people have skeptical views regarding the use of neurotic networks in designing the products that we consume as they view it as means of gaining control of our lives but, their potential in growing our quality of life is endless.

  • Growing Digitally Enabled Products

Human dependence on digital technology has been exceeding on an insanely large scale in the past few decades and this rate is expected to grow twice as much with further advancements in technology. Digitally enabled products serve more purposes than one and that too, with so much ease that you may find yourself getting hooked to doing simple tasks with much less effort.

It has been predicted that one of the fastest growing industries of the world, taking over others will be that of design and technology. New designers and developers are working to bring even greater transformations in our lives which are likely to bring adverse effects on the human brain. Scientists and researchers believe that our growing dependence on digitally enabled products will most likely cause major changes in the functionality of the human brain, in the years to come.

The advent of smart devices bought along advancements in other basic appliances such as refrigerators, toasters, television, etc.

Following are some examples of such products:

  • Samsung’s smart window- A design that fits the modern house interior and provides the feasibility to use sensitive touch-screen technology and access the internet with ease.
  • Samuel Wilkinson’s terrarium- Lets you look after houseplants, remotely using your smartphone. 
  • BIG– A Danish firm that envisaged driverless vehicles that communicate with each other and change courses to avoid the collision
  • Intel Connected Car funds– A project initiated by Intel in which they invested $100 million in companies working that work on hardware, software, and connecting vehicles with online devices.

The design industry is predominantly linked with all other industries, in one way or another. Starting from designing in architecture to digital products and marketing, the designing industry is involved in changing our lives and adding value to simple products.
