Michael O’Keefe is a retired 1st Grade Detective from the NYPD. For twenty-four years, he worked in the toughest neighborhoods in New York, specializing in investigating Homicides and other violent crime. He was born and raised on the mean streets described in his fiction. He lives on Long Island with his family, where he writes a little, and practices the ancient martial arts of lawn, and swimming pool maintenance — when he is not coaching football.

Shot to Pieces is his first novel, and set in the New York streets he knows so well. He is at work on his second novel, as well as a sequel to Shot to Pieces. He also writes incredible poetry. You can find his work on his website and we encourage you to sign up to his newsletter to find out where he is having readings and book signings! Where ever you are, if you are in the NY area for any reason, you can attend and listen to one of the best story tellers around.

Don’t take our word for it though. Here are some videos that prove it. We were lucky enough to meet up with Mike and have a great lunch in NYC at Chelsea Market and listen to him. Frankly, we could have listened forever.

Also connect to one of Mike’s readings!

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
