Stress brings alot of unwanted friends to a party, which make you think that eating your stress away works, or that a lovely hot chocolate mocha will boost your energy or that due to being so tired from work that a pizza is the perfect ‘treat’ or ‘pick me up’ at the end of the day. Then you wake up hungry from eating a combination of carbs that make you want to eat more.

Fast forward to me being in my 40’s and years of passive eating, eating the wrong food and eating too much food has caught up with me. I decide I want to change and to lose weight and gain control over my body to be healthy. 

Then I was told that ‘it is impossible to lose weight naturally at my age (in my 40’s). 

That took a week or so to process. Fortunately I have a natural inclination to want to do what seems impossible.

So in late January 2018 I started my life style change (it is not a diet, they have never worked effectively over a long time). As of today 1 October have lost 50 pounds (3.6 stone) 23Kg’s and gained back a lot of life!

Other than the physical part of the journey such as eating healthy foods, portion control, walking and moving more a large part of my process has been to identify when I may have wanted to reach for food or some kind of treat and instead looking within to find my strength. I have used meditation, mindfulness (which was really staying with the moment and feeling the emotions that were pushing me to feel a certain way to disappear.)

I am on track to continue this journey and plan to lose another 50 pounds (3.6 stone) 23Kg’s and gain back even more life!
