A survey carried out by Wrike shows that 94% of people questioned are victims of stress at work due to pressure on objectives, on deadlines … How to reduce this stress so that it does not become chronic, because it can then have significant health consequences.
The stress can lead to sleep disorders, of migraine, higher risk of heart attacks, and a burn out. Besides, for business leaders, a stressed person is less productive. There is therefore every interest in having your employees work in the most serene atmosphere possible.
Stress: how to reduce it?
While it is difficult, if not impossible, to completely eliminate stress at work like Appliance repair, there are effective solutions to reduce it and manage it better. They must be implemented by managers. What are they?
1 – Recognize the work performed by the employee: the more we ignore the workload and stress level of employees, the worse it is. While recognizing their stress level and workload helps them have better morale and feel more motivated.
2 – Do not send emails or SMS outside office hours: it has become a relatively common practice to receive emails from your supervisors at midnight on weekdays, or even on weekends. According to the Wrike survey, 84% of stressed people say that receiving an email or text from a superior outside of work hours has a high impact on their stress level. To lower the latter, several things are possible: leave the message in the draft box while waiting for office hours, or if it is impossible to do otherwise than send it, clearly specify in the header that this message is non-urgent and that the response can wait for the employee to return to his post.
3 – Encourage flexible hours and teleworking: 19% of stressed people questioned believe that flexible hours and working from home help reduce stress.
4 – Set up a task management platform: when you often have to go “fishing” for information, this complicates the work. Allowing its employees to have access to everything they need reduces stress and also allows better communication to move projects forward faster.
5 – Do not spend your time in meetings: 15% of the collective time spent in the office is intended for meetings. Yet 71% of managers believe that they are unproductive and inefficient! So why do the same? We can decide to set up days without any meeting in the week so that everyone can move forward on their work without being disturbed. We can also offer meetings at the same time as a physical activity such as walking that allows you to relax while concentrating.
6 – Share in small groups: bringing together new employees in the company with older ones allows the former to feel supported and to benefit from the knowledge of those who have been there for a longer time. This can help in getting the job done, especially in difficult times.
7 – Be realistic about the given workload: it is impossible to escape the deadlines. But to be able to respect them, it is essential to have a realistic workload. However, 75% of the people questioned think that their managers are not realistic in their expectations.
