If you fancy yourself as somewhat of an entrepreneur, then you are probably aware of the dedication, passion, and (most importantly) determination that it takes to start your own business, non-profit, or side-hustle.

But for anyone out there feeling like they need a few extra tips to get their entrepreneurship spirit back into focus, below are four extremely effective habits of extremely effective people.

Make a Schedule (And Stick to It)

Creating and adhering to a schedule is perhaps one of the most important and effective habits you can develop. Not only does waking up at a similar time each day set you in right relationship with your circadian clock, but it helps your mind stay focused and free of clutter on its way to accomplishing the tasks you have set before yourself.

Your schedule doesn’t have to be boring, either. The great benefit of a schedule is that you get to set up your day the way you desire. Set your schedule up in a way that if by the end of the day you didn’t accomplish what was on your list, your day and your life would be subsequently worse because of it.

Exercise

There is an old adage that says something to the effect of, “Exercise is there to prevent you from falling apart so you can do what you actually want to do.” The truth is, a lot of people don’t love spending a ton of time in the gym. And, chances are if you are in the entrepreneurial mindset day in and day out, then you probably don’t want to spend twenty hours a week in the gym, either.

Thankfully, due to living in the digital age, you can access thousands of great HIIT workouts, free, quick and effective exercise plans, and great apps to track your progress. Exercise has great benefits on neural-stimuli, mental health, and the overall satisfaction that comes with knowing you are taking care of your body.

Reading

Now, before you start commenting about all of the successful people in the world that don’t read, it isn’t so much about how you take in new information as much as it is that you do take it in. In a world that is moving faster every day, keeping up to date with the latest technology, current events, business news, etc. is of utmost importance. This is especially true when keeping up with the news and information that is related to your specific niche of entrepreneurship.

If you feel you are too busy to read, or maybe you simply don’t like it, podcasts and audiobooks are a great way to learn by listening.

Patience

Most of all, patience is the key virtue and habit to develop if you wish to be a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship takes time, there’s simply no way around it. Working on your dream requires tens of thousands of hours to develop and hone the skills and talents you will need to succeed. If you don’t succeed right away it’s not a complete failure but a lesson learned. The truth is, once you find what you are passionate about, hard work will pay off.

Patience may feel like the toughest habit to form out of this list, but it is a virtue, and it’s arguably the most important factor with highly successful entrepreneurs.
