Singer/Songwriter Jack Hess: I’m starting a movement to help clean the beaches and keep our oceans clean

I always look for ways to give back through the platform that I have been given. For example, immediately after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting, I made my way to Florida for the benefit concert. I was moved by what my peers were going through and saw my gift as a way to lift their spirits. The concert took place roughly a week after the shooting and seeing the impact that my music had on everyone there was proof that this is how I will continue to use my talents. I’ll continue to work with charities that I’m passionate about in order to bring greatness to the world.

I had the pleasure to interview Pop Singer/Songwriter Jack Hess. He has opened for many well known artists including Austin Mahone, Jack and Jack, HRVY & many more. Jack released his first single “Chasing Dreams” in mid July of 2017, which quickly placed on the iTunes US Top 200 Charts and was debuted on ABC’s Good Morning Washington. Later in 2018, Jack released his newest EP “Thought of You”, which included 4 tracks. Songs from the EP have since appeared on many networks including Elvis Duran, Y100 Miami 94.7 Fresh FM, iHeartRadio & more. His sound ranges from vibrant acoustic to rosy pop. With his new song “Swerve on You,” Jack flourishes in a new direction in Pop. The song is the story of a struggle for control in a relationship — controlling our lives and destiny.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I’ve always had a passion for making music! Since I was young, I loved to sing & explore new instruments. Then, in middle school, I started making covers of myself singing on the internet, which rapidly started growing my fan base. From there, I started making and releasing original music and my name as an artist.

Can you share the most interesting story that occurred to you in the course of your music career?

When I opened for Austin Mahone in Fort Lauderdale and while there, I met nationally syndicated radio show host Elvis Duran. This led to me being on his show, twice!

What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?

Currently, I have been writing and working on my new album. I should have it ready to release in April!

Who are some of the most interesting people you have interacted with What was that like? Do you have any stories?

I’ve opened for many acts including Austin Mahone, Jack and Jack, Max Schneider, & many more crazy talented people. By working & performing with these type well known artists, I’ve learned a lot of knowledge about the industry & made a lot of great friends!

Which people in history inspire you the most? Why?

One musician who has always stood out to me is Michael Jackson. I really aspire to be able to reach as many people with my music as he did.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I always look for ways to give back through the platform that I have been given. For example, immediately after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting, I made my way to Florida for the benefit concert. I was moved by what my peers were going through and saw my gift as a way to lift their spirits. The concert took place roughly a week after the shooting and seeing the impact that my music had on everyone there was proof that this is how I will continue to use my talents. I’ll continue to work with charities that I’m passionate about in order to bring greatness to the world.

You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

In the next few months, I’m looking to put together a movement where I meet with all of my fans on the beach in there state and they spend the day with me as we clean the beach and help keep the ocean clean! Following that, they will, of course, enjoy dinner with me!

Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?

Always stay consistent when releasing your best content. Consistency is the key to growing your fan base!

What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why. Please share a story or example for each.

1. If you know your meeting fans before the show, drink tea and rest your voice the day before and day of so it’s still strong and ready after to put on an amazing performance. I did a show in Orlando and had to meet over 400+ fans before the show, I ended up loosing my voice because I did not properly prepare myself.

2. Always try and get a good night’s rest when your on tour. There are usually only a few days throughout the whole leg of tour that you’ll have to catch up on your sleep if you fall back one day. You never wanna fall back a day by not sleeping enough and not be able to give it your all in the next city.

3. Start getting things together for your gigs ahead of time, almost like you would for traveling, even if it’s a hometown show. There have been many times when I run around the day of to get everything together for the show and it ends up only giving me a few minutes to focus on myself. Have everything from your outfit to your equipment ready a few days before, things will pop up that either you or if you have a manager, have to deal with the day of.

4. Practice, practice, practice. Have your live performance down & prepared. Everything from how your gonna interact from your fans to the order of songs your going to sing. It’s always good to be prepared so everything goes smoothly and you’ll feel less nervous about the big day!

5. Most importantly, talk and network with everyone you meet. You never know when you might meet someone who could provide you value or you both could benefit by working together.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to interview and be in touch with some of the biggest names in Business, VC funding, Sports, and Entertainment. Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she just might see this, especially if we tag them 🙂

Justin Bieber 100%. He’s always looked like a cool dude to chat with & I’ve been super inspired by his success.
