Is Small Business Marketing on Facebook doomed in 2018?

As I was reading Mark  Zuckerberg’s January 11th announcement, I quite ironically, felt what my brand name seems to stand against – FEAR.

As a Visibility Strategist for small business owners, Facebook has been my choice of platform and I have been teaching my clients how to be visible to their Facebook audience to inspire and nurture long lasting relationships… Yes, for a Business Page, staying on top of the Newsfeed without using ads has become almost impossible recently, so I’ve designed a workaround system, where by using their personal profile strategically and authentically showing up there, solopreneurs in earlier stages of their business could successfully create that engagement with their connections, drive them to join their Facebook groups and continue on to building their unique tribe through engaging and valuable content. 

My Fearless Client Attraction is, in fact, a very simple strategy that worked for me and my clients. Yet, the major change to what this platform is focusing on in 2018, means a lot of tips and hack on how to boost the organic reach of their posts and create engagement will now simply become obsolete.

Yes, for a short while I felt fear – that cold, unkind, suffocating, helpless feeling inside. It wanted me to give up. It was standing over me, laughing, pointing it’s finger at me, calling me a failure, a nothing… You know, the usual. 

But there is a reason why I use the word Fearless in my branding. It is not because I do not feel it. It is because when I feel fear, I also get very annoyed at it, so instead of giving up, I get up and move forward.

I love it that in life there are always challenges and we just need to figure out the best way to deal with the new. Yet, this time it is going to be a HUGE change and will require re-thinking of the business outcomes and goals, and even more so a BIG DECISION – whether Facebook IS the place you will be able to build a position of influence in your niche and attract clients altogether.

I think Facebook could become a much more interesting place. And although old content building strategies might not work any longer, there are other ways we can connect and influence our audience there. 

More authentic. More personal. More inspirational. My kind of content. Stories. Live interactions. Sharing passion through conversations. Just simply getting to know the people behind profiles more. Become FRIENDS again, and draw your friends to the amazing value that you have to share.

Where do you start? By asking simple questions. I have a collection of 855 Engagement Bomb Questions that I have used to create great conversations on my personal Facebook profile, all you need to do is to make sure that you follow up on those answers tagging other people in your replies to inspire them to enter the discussion and (wait for it) creating conversations! Such a simple technique, that is still working while other types of posts seem to get no reach at all. 

And of course there is so much more, but right now no one can tell us 100% what we need to do and what will work. It is the time we test things out ourselves. It is NOT the end! It is just the beginning of a new era. Trust the process. I have a feeling this is going to be something beautiful!
