Seven ways to express your gratitude at work

Interestingly, it’s for all purposes impossible to feel irritated, agitated, or unappreciated if you feel grateful. Gratitude fills us in a positive and productive way and makes us much nicer, both to others and to ourselves. In fact, it can brighten the lives of the people around us and help make the washer repair work environment more positive. Stop and think about what makes you grateful and see that as you express it your attitude changes and you become more resilient. So if you’re juggling oranges and someone throws you a lemon, you’ll be able to adjust and adapt faster.

We all have bad days. Gratitude helps you get through them. This is a positive way of looking at the positive side of things. After all, who wouldn’t love life and work to be more positive? People who express their gratitude are happier. They pay more attention to what they have than what they do not. Research confirms that positivity has a positive impact on your mental state and can improve your health because of the connection between your body and your mind.

Here are some ideas that will help you build and maintain your “gratitude muscle”.

1. Keep a record of your gratitude

Start or end the day by writing down three things that have happened or will happen that day that you are grateful for. I assure you that your working atmosphere will be even more positive.

2. Improve your vocabulary

Pay attention to the language you use when talking to others or to yourself. A positive tone will allow you to assert yourself, to impose yourself. Rather than saying, “I have to [blah, blah, blah]”, try saying “I’ll [blah, blah, blah]”. The first looks like a punishment, while the second looks more like a reward. The mere act of replacing a word totally changes your attitude.

3. Express gratitude to yourself

Build your confidence and familiarize yourself with the gratitude process by starting with yourself. Recognize your own accomplishments and efforts.

4. Express your gratitude to your colleagues

We all need positive reinforcement from time to time, even though we sometimes have to look a long way before we find it. And remember, you don’t have to like or get along with everyone, but you don’t have to spare any effort to keep the negative from controlling your day. You would be amazed at how much a sincere compliment here and there can contribute to your working relationship.

5. Thank the people you come into contact with

The cashier of a bank, a waiter, a taxi driver, a teacher … no one is indifferent to thanks. This is a little seed that takes root and grows with each “thank you”. Think about it! When you open the door for someone and they say “thank you”, you feel a little warmth inside, don’t you? Pass this feeling on to others and you will become a happier, more positive person with whom you can seek companionship.

6. Start meetings with thanks

A weekly or monthly team or service meeting is the perfect opportunity to express your gratitude and positivism. Too often we get lost in what we need to do and forget to recognize past successes. Start each meeting by asking people in attendance to mention a positive point about their work or a project. They will then have to imagine other ways of seeing events and issues, which will increase people’s engagement, build teams and stimulate communication.

7. Thank your team

If you are a manager or a team leader, thank your team members collectively and individually. Plus, make sure your praise is specific, focused, and sincere. Employees who feel appreciated are happier and more productive.

Gratitude is a powerful weapon. “People will forget what you said; people will forget what you did; but people will never forget how they felt around you.”
