I believe that one of the many reasons for why the world initially fell in love with my previous global radio/podcast guest, Leeza Gibbons, is because she made the deliberate decision to show up for herself; knowing this was the only way she could authentically show up for others. If you are unwilling to attend your own party based upon the false beliefs and false concepts that you might make a lousy host or have yourself convinced that your home is not lovely enough in which to entertain or the food you plan to prepare and serve may not be up-to-par - if this inner-reel of self-talk sounds the least bit remotely familiar to you...I have to ask...what makes you then believe you would be a completely present and gracious guest at someone else's party?
Having the capacity to equally and respectfully value your own worthiness and deservability, and doing so without falling prey to the comparison trap IS what allows you to not only be a great giver but equally; a great receiver. Whatever we each choose to place our individual attention on only serves to perpetually grow stronger. If one is of the belief that they can never hold a candle to anyone else; the likelihood of this messaging reinforcing itself over and over again is the mindset-loop you are providing an extended and open-standing invitation to. Who wants to RSVP to a pity party? Who wants to congregate around a table of self-deprecation while pouring themselves a glass of 'scarcity' while double-dipping in the bowl of sour grapes? Not Leeza Gibbons!
The Leeza Gibbons of this world (and long before her career ever blew up) knew that in order to make a true mark in this world; to truly shift cultural change in the arena of leadership - one had to be the walking-talking-breathing example of what it inherently means to be a leader. Leaders do not cower nor do they hide when the going gets tough. Anyone climbing the mountain of personal growth and personal development knows that the higher the climb - the louder the critics and nay-sayers become. Unfortunately, this is part of the human condition. Did Leeza choose to focus on the background noise of skeptics or haters? Absolutely not! Leeza was far too busy honing herself, improving herself, expanding herself and raising the bar on her own standards within her own journey! Leeza was too laser-focused on her philanthropy, volunteerism, book-writing, talk-showing, speaking...all of which is indicative of advocacy, empowerment, and awareness.
People have fallen in-love with Leeza because Leeza sees the value and recognizes the importance of 'RSVPING YES' to her own life. More believable to accept a compliment from someone who has the confidence to accept one from others. More compelling to accept advice from someone who incorporates that same advice into their own daily living. More convincing to believe you can aspire to greatness when surrounded by others who fervently execute on this core belief, themselves. 'Why you?' you may find yourself asking. 'Why not you?' will always be my response. Whose gain is it if one chooses to play small? Leeza became larger than life because she knew and understood the benefits for all of us by sharing her gifts, wisdom, insights, and talents with the collective instead of choosing to hoard them for her own use or gain. Can any one of us ever have too many inspiring role-models in our lifetime? Is it selfish to be a role-model? No. Is it narcissistic or egoic to want to use your life and life example to empower others to empower themselves? No. SO WHY NOT YOU? Go Fly! GO Soar! Go Shine! Take a page out of Leeza's book - any page - and watch how quickly your life transforms for the better! It is a choice! Eagerly awaiting my invitation to RSVP the celebration of YOU!
Thank you, Leeza, for gifting me, the loyal Living Fearlessly with Lisa McDonald radio listeners, and podcast subscribers with your brightness, not to mention your gracious testimonial!
