Don’t Confuse Popularity with Value: I can’t tell you how many opportunities I’ve turned down because they did not represent my brand message. My anointing is to empower and inspire and I don’t take that for granted. Remember an authentic path may take longer but the moves and impact are forever legendary!

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Can you tell us the story of how you grew up?!
I was Born in Grand Bay Dominica and raised in the greater Washington D.C. area. I grew up around a melting pot of different cultures and I am forever thankful for this experience. From as young as I can remember I always wanted to work in the entertainment industry! I was my elementary school’s morning news anchor and was always on stage speaking or performing. I graduated from Marymount University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations and the rest was history! Fast forward to today, I am an award-winning television anchor, global speaker, poet, creative director, model and entrepreneur determined to use my platform to radiate positive vibes to the world and motivate others to live their best lives!
Can you share a story with us about what brought you to this specific career path?
Everything that I’ve done in my career so far has propelled me to become a serial creative entrepreneur! I’ve been blessed to work with some of the world’s most leading media companies including CBS, VH1, MTV, BET, HGTV and OWN Network! I’ve interviewed countless global icons and starred in television segments and commercials for Google, VISA, Facebook, Chevrolet, Amazon, and Colgate, just to name a few. I’ve toured the country and internationally as a motivational speaker and spoken word artist was even crowned Miss Caribbean Metro USA where I served as a spokesperson for the Caribbean-American community!
I decided it was time to leverage my personal brand and create a hub where all my talents merge. In April 2019, I launched Motivational Moore LLC, a DC-based international multimedia and public speaking company aimed to uplift and empower through inspirational storytelling. As the CEO and founder, I provide services as an experienced television host, on-camera talent, motivational speaker/ spoken wordartist, content creator and brand ambassador worldwide!Prior to launching my own business, I spent five years as a reporter, host, and creative producer at the FOX affiliate in Baltimore, where I not only anchored but launched the daily lifestyle-entertainment talk show, BMORE Lifestyle. Local television was a phenomenal experience and a great stepping stone, but ownership and creative freedom was always the goal!
Can you tell us the most interesting story that happened to you since you began your career?
That’s a good one, I have tons of interesting stories, but I would say it is more of a lesson: You have to do the personal work in order to accomplish the professional work! It took me years to become the woman I am today, and I still have so much work to do! I can honestly say the more I work on myself spiritually, mentally and personally the more I soar professionally!! Everything is energy!
What are some of the most interesting or exciting projects you are working on now?
Several prominent projects are in the works right now. CultureFest has asked me to be their brand ambassador and I’m SO pumped! The festival will bring together Caribbean-African culture through music, food, and fashion to create an atmosphere like no other on June 8th at the National Harbor! I am very excited to announce I am releasing a poetry album! This is a masterpiece in the making and will combine my gifts for empowering others, creating and entertaining! Acting is also on the horizon! I’m set to make my film debut this year which takes a detailed look at life after prison and re-entry into society.
I’m very interested in diversity in the entertainment industry. Can you share reasons with our readers about why you think it’s important to have diversity represented in film and television? How can that potentially affect our culture?
Representation matters! Media and entertainment shape our personal perceptions and attitudes. People believe anything they hear or see so it’s critical to have positive content that reflects how dynamic we are! There are too many negative stereotypes surrounding people of color that have been systematically created. I am a firm advocate on pushing out positive entertainment and pushing other creatives to use their platform for good! The change starts with us first.
What are your “5 things I wish someone told me when I first started” and why? Please share a story or example for each.
- God is the Plug: I learned not to lean to my own understanding and trust God! This game has so many ups and downs! Focus on your relationship with Him and everything will fall in place!
- Invest in Yourself: There is no more profitable investment than investing in yourself! Get a professional website, attend personal development workshops, market yourself, hire a team, etc. Everything will pay off in the long run.
- Greatness takes Time: There’s no such thing as an overnight success. I freelanced for two years before getting a full-time on-air. You must be willing to put in the work and trust the process.
- Don’t Confuse Popularity with Value: I can’t tell you how many opportunities I’ve turned down because they did not represent my brand message. My anointing is to empower and inspire and I don’t take that for granted. Remember an authentic path may take longer but the moves and impact are forever legendary!
- Trust your Dopeness: I’ve learned to be my biggest fan! Not everyone is going to see your vision and that’s ok! The entertainment industry is full of egos. You can’t allow someone’s insecurities to stop you from fulfilling your purpose! God is the final say!
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
Make sure you are intentionally nourishing your soul each day! For me, I literally can’t go a day without reading a daily devotion and dancing! Everyone needs a healthy outlet to unwind and experience life joys!
You are a person of enormous influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂
That’s why I am working on this poetry album! I want to encourage people to become the highest version of themselves and unlock their infinite potential! There is greatness inside all of us, but first, we must choose to be great!
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story about that?
My parents are the number one reason I am where I am today. We immigrated to the United States from Dominica with nothing. Words cannot describe the sacrifices, support, and love they have provided. I am truly blessed!
Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?
“The joy is in the journey” is hands down, my favorite quote. I live by this motto! Nothing happens overnight! You have to be willing to trust the process and be positive through it.
Is there a person in the world, or in the US whom you would love to have a private breakfast or lunch with, and why? He or she might just see this, especially if we tag them.
You already know…Oprah!
