Positive thinking

Having a positive attitude and positive thoughts is the only way to live. If you have a negative thought and you keep thinking in that negative way for long periods of time it will come true for you. For example: If you say, “I feel depressed or sad,” you will manifest that in your life. That’s what happened to me. I was thinking in a negative way for a long time. This in turn manifested in my life as being depressed.

I realize that we can’t be positive all the time. People deal with losses and bad days. But when you stay negative for long periods of time, that’s when things worsen for you. We need to realize when we start thinking in a negative way we have to say, “Stop, I don’t need that thought.” So in our example, when I say, “I feel depressed or sad” I’d want to change this to a positive thought by saying, “YES, I feel wonderful, I feel great.” Can you see the difference? One is very negative while the other one is positive and it will make you feel great.

This is what people don’t understand: It normally takes 21 days to change a habit. So if I was thinking in a negative way for a long time, it would take at least 21 days to change my mindset to think positively. At this point people give up. They say the positive affirmation and see nothing has changed in two weeks. This is not the time to give up; keep going. I say someone has to recite an affirmation or change his/her thought for at least two months to really begin making a difference.

Here is an example: I spent years thinking in a negative way. It took me a few months to feel better after I started thinking and talking in a more positive way. It was very hard because, like many people, I wanted to give up. But I decided to keep going. I did not give up even though I wanted too many times because I could not see any result. But after a while, I started to see small results. I went to my life coach’s office and told him it was the first time in a few years that I have not felt depressed. I did not feel depressed for a week or so, and that had not happened in years. My point in telling you my story is: Don’t give up. Just keep saying your affirmation and have faith that it will happen for you. If I had given up, I would not be the person I am right now.

Being positive works for any aspect of your life, not just for depression. For example: Let’s look at finding a partner. If you want a boyfriend/girlfriend, don’t ever say, “I can’t find a boyfriend/girlfriend.” Change it to something positive such as: “YES, I have a great new boyfriend/girlfriend, and we get along well.” See the difference? It’s more positive.

Keep going and never ever give up. This is the greatest time to be alive right now because now you know you have the power within you to change your life. You can live a great, happy life with just a change of thought. You are a great, positive person. We all might just have to work on being more positive in our life. That includes me as well. I have bad days and start to feel sad or depressed, but then I realize I am not thinking correctly. I change my thoughts to more positive ones and instead of being depressed for days or a week at a time I pull myself out of the depression very quickly. I can do this now because I know I can and so can you.

Remember positive thoughts will get you positive results.
