Not all men are monsters. Trust me when I say it is time to celebrate good men. We have all been hearing a lot about #metoo, and I have also been a #metoo. But at the end of the day, I feel it is time to celebrate the men out there that are not monsters—the men that are truly wanting to know what to do in these changing times. They care, they are champions, they are ambassadors of women, and there are a lot of men out there who stand up for integrity and class.
These are men standing up and publicly advocating for women; My brother David Dastmalchian, an actor/screenwriter, is a huge advocate for women. Jeffery Tobias Halter—who is out there creating his whole business around helping other men champion women, especially in the corporate place. Ryan Foland – a guru in the social media & branding arena who continues to shine the spotlight on women around the world. The list goes on and on and on…
But here is where I am coming from:
I have been a victim at the hands of a monster. If any of you don’t know my story, I shared it over a year ago, unbeknownst that this year would turn into what it has. I am saying that as women, we do need to stand up. We need to learn how to stand up for ourselves, and if you want to read my article “How I Rekindled my Light,” please do.
I believe that many of us have lived in darkness, dark corners of closets and shadows feeling all alone. What I’ve come to realize is that there are a lot of men that want to be there and want to celebrate us. They want to treat us with the respect that we have learned how to deserve and that we have given ourselves permission to own.
So, today, I want to start the #NotAllMen Movement for all of the men out there that are choosing to be true exemplary ambassadors and champions of women. All men are NOT monsters, and it’s time that we stand up for those men.
Having been at the hand of a monster and now having wonderful men in my life and a wonderful husband, I know there are so many other good men out there. As an international inspirational speaker, I get the privilege of serving, supporting, speaking to and inspiring many of them.
Women, let’s celebrate the good men out there and share stories. And men, it’s time! We need to be celebrating you, and I invite you to share your stories of how you stood up for the women in your life.
Whether it was in the corporate space and you’ve been that leader that stood up and said, “I believe in you, you’re amazing and we’re promoting you”—or whether it’s a man raising daughters. As a mother myself of three boys and a grandson, I feel that it’s imperative that we celebrate men of high integrity. It doesn’t mean you have to be perfect; nobody’s perfect. You don’t have to be perfect to be priceless.
Let’s stand up and celebrate the good men in our world. #NotAllMen
