So its a New Year. You pull out your list and map out your ideas and goals. Funny thing is they look exactly like last years goals. Before you scrap that piece of paper lets take a look at each of your goals individually to see how best to achieve it.

  1. Diet – While this is always on everyones hot list. How is the best way to tackle this goals without binging and purging on day 3? Lightly is always best. First lets change the name from diet to maintenance plan. Your ultimate goal is to maintain healthy eating habits. Diets convey a short term goal but you are in this for the long haul. As such you are adopting healthier eating habits that will benefit you in the long run. So while you are telling chocolate and pizza that you need to take a break from them for now. You are getting more involved with fruits and vegetables that you have not seen in a while. In fact you are finding fun ways to cook that broccoli that just tastes amazing. Heck you even fancy yourself as Creed training for your next fight. But in your case fight equals new outfit or old favorite that will be fitting much better on your frame. Remember it only takes 21 days to form a habit. Before long these healthy eating will be a new habit.
  2. Money – Take a look at your checking and savings and see where you are spending money that you could put elsewhere (like a savings). Your new “whatever” fund. This one is actually more fun than you think. Look at where you could save money without noticing it missing (aka your daily starbucks). What if its only three days a week instead of five? Put the saved money in your piggy bank and enter it into your savings account monthly. Next thing you know you have extra money for that weekend trip or Spa day you were thinking of.
  3. Starting a business – So many people I find have this on their list to do but the main reason they don’t start is either time? Or not knowing where to start. First off when it comes to time pertaining to the things we want to do we can always find the time. Before work or after work? A few hours on the weekend? This is a great start. Also as for what to do? Start exploring the things that interest you. Heck make a list of the things you are great at and enjoy as well as the things that interest you. Use your spare time to explore this. Just taking steps in this direction is a huge step towards your goals. Extra points if you take a class or two to explore further or attend any events that are focus on your ideas.

Here is the thing. We are just into the New Year and if you are like me you want this one to be the best year ever. Let’s do this!
