Components of Music that Affect the brain

There are four components of music that affect the brain in making music-humming, playing rhythmic drums, playing an instrument,listening to music, writing lyrics, talking about the lyrics in a song. No matter what method is chosen, the participant is sure to decrease negative feelings and increase the oxygen flow in their brain.

How Several Parts of the Brain are Affected by Music

Frontal Lobe, which is used in decision making and planning. Temporal Lobe, processes what we hear. Broca’s Area, allows us to speak or sing. Wernicke’s area, the part that allows us to analyze and enjoy music. Occipital Lobe, musicians are able to use this part of the brain to see the written music in their mind just by hearing the music.

Cerebellum, movement and physical memory are correlated in this part of the brain. If music was learned in the early stages of life, that information is stored in this part of the brain for the person’s entire life.

Nucleus Accumbens, listening to music is very rewarding to this part of the brain, and can even become addictive.
