Developing a quiet mind is a platform for creating an epic life. When your mind is free from the distractions created by resistance to people or circumstances, you are free to create an authentic version of your dream life.

A quiet mind is a peaceful mind not burdened by negative chatter and unwanted mental interruptions. For example, when your mind is quiet, you see things clearly which improves your decision making. Your stress levels drop significantly because you stop resisting other people and the circumstances of life.

With a quiet mind, you gracefully free yourself from the irrational fears that cause self-sabotage. When that happens, you have achieved what is traditionally called Enlightenment.

Enlightenment is typically associated with eastern religion but I propose it is actually a hyper-aware state. I define enlightenment as the recognition that the source of life within you is the source of life in everyone and everything else. It is an inner knowing that we are all one thing expressing itself with infinite variety.

After conducting thousands of coaching calls with high conscious go-getters from Wall Street to Main Street, I have seen first hand the power of this recognition. Inevitably, connecting with this recognition will silence the unwanted negative mind chatter. This frees up mental capital to focus on what is important.

The enlightened state which I call a Quiet Mind is very practical. Below are six qualities that I’ve seen emerge in my clients as their mind went quiet.

1. Wisdom

When your mind goes quiet you are flooded with information that was previously blocked by your mind’s fears, concerns, and distortions. It’s like the curtains are open and suddenly you see the world for the first time. The world just makes sense to you. People no longer surprise you and your curiosity explodes within you.

2. Profound peace

When you achieve your quiet mind, you will know with certainty that there is nowhere to go. Nothing to do. Nothing to accomplish. Nothing to apologize for. No one to impress. No mind chatter dictating orders or mandating the completion of to-do lists, and no more worrying about the future. This is true freedom. You will be free from the bondage of the mind. Peace is pervasive, persistent, and frankly…awesome! It’s a highly recommended state!

3. Fear disappears

This fearlessness stems from being present to your infinite nature. You see no ending and no beginning. You see the pervasive energetic quality of your existence. There is nothing to be afraid of. All of life’s concerns seem like a comedy. You find yourself giggling and giddy on a regular basis.

4. Courage

With the absence of fear, there is an emergence of trust in life and an inner knowing that all is well. In other words, the world will just make sense. Gone are the days of fretting over what might happen. A quiet mind is a platform for action.

5. Your presence is experienced as a gift

When your mind is quiet, you accept people and circumstances exactly as they are. You see all people as innocent and beautiful. Your ability to accept people as they are is uplifting and healing to the people you encounter.

6. You are special because you realize that you aren’t special

Everyone is celebrated. All human experiences are revered and appreciated. Nothing is better or worse, good or bad. What is creating you is creating everything.

Developing a quiet mind is a skill that anyone can learn.

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
