When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Michael Kors:
I feed my two cats, Bunny and Viola, and then browse Business of Fashion, WWD, New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

TG: What gives you energy?
MK:
My curiosity, nature and iced tea.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
MK:
Travel as often as you can to change your eye.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
MK:
It’s a love-hate relationship. I think it’s important for everyone to unplug every once in a while. So when I go to theater, which is often, I turn it off. When I go on vacation, I try not to keep it on me all the time. But I’m pretty glued to it, and yes it’s next to the bed.

TG: How do you deal with email?
MK:
If I’m online, I try to answer it as soon as I can.

TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
MK:
I read an article I earmarked earlier that morning or I go for a walk.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out?
MK:
I’m incredibly fortunate to love what I do. No day is ever the same, so I’m always excited and I’m always asking, “What’s next?” In 30 years, I can’t think of a day where I felt like stopping. When my calendar gets ahead of me, I can feel pressured but never overwhelmed.

TG: Share a quote that gives you strength when times are tough.
MK: Organize, don’t agonize.
