Studies have found that when people switch back and forth between tasks, they lose up to 50% of their efficiency and accuracy. Putting your phone away also shows your genuine interest in what people have to say and sets an example for them to follow.

How to do it

  • Leave your laptop and smartphone at your desk for your next meeting. Try using a notebook and pen to take notes instead.
  • If you are organizing the meeting, signal that it will be device-free in the invite and designate a note-taker.
