To live with a purpose means that your need to drive forward is innate. When you live with purpose you build a foundation for yourself that cannot be broken. Knowing you have a purpose ingrains in you that when hard times come, giving up is not an option. I think everyone needs purpose and many people are currently struggling with finding their purpose.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Chase Bowler. Bowler has been told he is a natural communicator, a problem solver, heartwarming and charismatic. He believes that the best investment you can make is in people that he meets in life.

Thank you so much for doing this with us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?

I am the PR and Outbound Marketing Manager for CanvasPop.com. My first job ever was working with children with disabilities, the majority of these children had autism. I worked in similar roles for a little over a decade. During this time I strengthened my communication skills because traditionally children with learning disabilities need to be communicated in unique and individual ways. From there I studied Social Work and then Religion at the university. I studied both because of interest in people but neither subjects were exciting to me. I have always been a natural communicator with a strong ability to portray the benefits of a brand. I decided that marketing and business was a viable life path that could do two things for me. One, let me talk to people on a daily basis and two, lead to a job with a high earning potential.

What does it mean for you to live “on purpose”? Can you explain? How can one achieve that?

To live with a purpose means that your need to drive forward is innate. When you live with purpose you build a foundation for yourself that cannot be broken. Knowing you have a purpose ingrains in you that when hard times come, giving up is not an option. I think everyone needs purpose and many people are currently struggling with finding their purpose.

Do you have an example or story in your own life of how your pain helped to guide you to finding your life’s purpose?

My father passed away when I was nine and I saw the pain that inflicted on my Mom. She was left to raise a 9 year old and 3 year old on her own with little to no family support. This is when I realized that my purpose was to be supportive within my family. To ensure the safety of my sister and mother but also to try and ease any pain that I could. I have had that purpose ever since. Whether it was working with children with autism or raising my own children, making sure everyone is flourishing and protected is my main goal.

The United States is currently rated at #18 in the World Happiness Report. Can you share a few reasons why you think the ranking is so low?

I think people base their self-worth on others too much, they don’t go outside enough and not to sound cliche, over-connectedness through social media. When you base your self-worth on what other people think of you it can lead to the wrong purpose. You care too much about what others think. What really matters is what you think about yourself. It’s proven that Vitamin D and physical activity leads to happiness and a decrease in depression. Get outside, enjoy the outdoors and you will feel happier. I don’t think social media is to blame but it partnered with the growing tendency of people basing self-worth on others is a dangerous combination.

How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?

I still live in the community where I worked so I get to see those children grow up. Although I now only see snapshots of their lives, I like to believe that I had some sort of impact on their development.

What are your 6 strategies to help you face your day with exuberance, “Joie De Vivre” and a “ravenous thirst for life”? Can you please give a story or example for each?

1. Get 15–30 minutes of movement in the morning, as soon as possible. Walk the dog, walk to the coffee shop, whatever, just move. This is scientifically proven to perk up your body and get you into the rhythm of the day.

2. Water! You lose up to a pound of water while you sleep. You need to rehydrate. Add some Himalayan salt to your water for electrolytes.

3. Don’t look at your phone right away. The blue light from a phone can screw with your energy levels and it’s a bad habit to get into.

4. Drink coffee. Obvious but still.

5. Read a book. This activates your brain, get’s it thinking and firing. This way you are not starting your day in a daze.

6. Eat a breakfast low in carbs and high in protein and fat. A breakfast heavy in carbs will spike your blood sugar and put you in a daze. Protein will keep you full for longer and you can focus on your day ahead

Do you have any favorite books, podcasts, or resources that most inspired you to live with a thirst for life?

My favorite books are Brave New World and Rich Dad Poor Dad. I have two podcasts that inspire me. The Joe Rogan Experience because of his belief in struggle and being better. Secondly, How I Built This by NPR because it’s extremely inspiring to hear successful entrepreneurs speak candidly.

Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote” that relates to having a Joie De Vivre? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

I recently heard this quote from the great author Steven Rinella and he said “When there’s a problem, don’t curse the darkness, light a candle”. I think this is very fitting when facing a hard day. You have two choices when life is hard, wallow in self-pity and give up or create a way to make it better. Fight for what you want and light that candle, don’t curse the darkness.

Are you working on any exciting new projects now? How do you think that will help people?

I am working with CanvasPop.com on multiple exciting new projects for 2019.

You are a person of great influence. If you could inspire a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂

Go outside! Breath fresh air, go for a walk. It will make you feel better!

People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills . . . There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind. . . . So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself.
